I had a BZ4 around 2004. It was a real let down for me. It just didn't get with the program. It would not REV!! I pulled the BZ4 out and bolted in a motor from one of the other engine builders and without changing a thing, I had an instant 60mph boat! Since then Bonzi has gotten a bit better modding motors. I have seen BZ4's that run pretty good, but they still can't convince me to try another and I still beat them. The motor I bought was an M+D Designs full/mod 260. I have 4 of them now among the others. Brian

Owned a bonzi bz4 3 years ago,not a pain to tune but not a good performer either. I quickly sold the motor for $200 just for a quick sale. Your better off buying a Gizmo GZ2,GZ4 or even the new Tiger King they sell now. Spend the proper way now and it will save you in the long run.

Quickdraw is the brand motor i race in all my boats (beside my Sonic Racing twin cat with full mod K30's). I have a few mod k30's from gizmo that run very good.. My full mod K30's with standard cranks out performed both my redline 29.5's (w/ +1mm cranks) in the same deep v hull. All i done was took out redline and dropped in K30(at track)....same pipe length, prop and everything and saw over 3mph more instantly (and even more by time i changed props). Personally i would recommend QD Pioneer as the #1 choice if your budget allows you too,if not a M&D cast motor,CC racing motor or any of Gizmo's motors and you wont regret it.

With Bonzi you don't know what you're getting for the money, the same as a few others out there. I'd like to know what I'm getting with say a Stage 1 and a Stage 5. Did they relieve the piston? Put in a thinner gasket? Change the carb? They may have never opened the engine yet can call different things mods.
Put it this way, at any boat race that I've seen the results of, I've yet to see a Bonzi listed as a trophy modded engine.
