Default I've never seen a gas engine like this before

I've got a shot at buying this from what I'd loosely call an estate sale as a widow is unloading some of her late husband's RC boat collection.
The hull looks familiar but the engine has me baffled as I've never seen one like that before and what I found out from the widow, her husband wasn't sure either.
I know there should be a few guys in here that might know so that's why I'm asking. Matt?

Nope. I'm not quite sure that as it might be possibly 23cc based Zenoah.
She knew her husbands boats almost as well as he did. My wife doesn't have a clue as to what I've got.

an interesting looking head no doubt Ron!! I would have said it was some sort of early concept water cooling modification but given the newer zen crank case I would say not likely.
Maybe he was more into motor mods than most of us. An impressive effort without a doubt!!

i have seen similar mods to air cooled zenoahs made by good machinists.. he probably had a buddy make it for him and never told mama what he paid for it .

The hull is a Bandit as Kevin Sheren gave it to him. I can pick the boat pretty much RTR for a relative song. This is part of Rick Reisinger's collection. As some of you know, he was killed last year when his car was hit by a drunk driver while sitting at a stoplight.

I went down to Fort Wayne, IN yesterday and picked up the boat. It appears to be a modded 23cc but I yanked it out along with everything else inside the hull last night and have been working on it most of the afternoon so far and probably into the evening. I'm just taking a breather right now (a phone call brought me upstairs). The boat in places was painfully cobbled up so it's getting a diet of losing the plastic gas tank for a IV bag and threw out the awful Aeromarine motor mount. The radio box and complete radio setup is also tossed. When somebody used plumbers dope to seal the stuffing tube to the transom it gives you a hint.
