How competitive is your canard in heat racing with other sport hydros (such as insane GX5, backlash, etc)?

Well as you can see in the video the Chief runs great. I guess it's all up to the driver now. My job is to design it and make it fast, I did that. ) The video was shot at 4000 feet above sea level. My customer claims it's 10 mph faster at sea level.

It's a gorgeous hull and looks great on the water running on it's own.

My question is more related to how it performs in racing conditions against other sport hydros. Some things you just can't tell watching a boat on open water. For example, how well does it hug the buoys in heat water or light chop? Does it hold it's line or hop/push out? How much speed is scrubbed off in cornering compared to other sport hydro designs (more or less)? Is it faster or slower down the straights?

As a racer, I love the idea of having and racing canard but want to understand if lane one lap times are better or worse than other racing hydro hulls.

I can't answer that since I don't race in a club. Those questions will have to wait to be answered when I get feedback from my customers.

Nice design Dana with very good motor access - Runs well too!!

I have an old Aeromarine Canard and you virtually have to pull the motor to access anything!

I will keep an eye out here and on the dock for race reviews. If they are positive relative to being competitive, I will definitely need to add one to my race fleet.

Again, gorgeous hull, an absolute work of art.

I decided to re-design the Chief Canard this winter to see if I can make it even faster. I added more lift on the sponsons and wings and eliminated a little drag on the canopy.

Default New DaVette Chief Canard

Thanks Kendog. The bottom is almost ready to start molding.
I got rid of several drag boat molds . Right now I'm staying with the v bottoms and canards.
