Cannot say I have seen it done - CMBs are pretty scarce at the best of times

The CMB's are rear rotor induction engines so you can't start them from that end. The only way to start is with flywheel at PTO end. You would have to do some serious machining to make that happen and the engine would have to be stacked up high and a belt left around the flywheel all the time. Wouldn't make for a easy fit.

Not that rare, just expensive. They would if you can get one fitted almost ideal for an outboard setup with a square ended cable on each end as they don't like a conventional round drive.
John Otto uses nitro CMB's on his OB tunnels and had to use a belt. I've only seen a couple of them in outriggers, Stu Barr's and Mark Grim's who are both CMB dealers.
