Default looking for parts for gas boat

I recently traded for a large gas boat. It is almost 6ft in length and is powered by a quadra 50cc gas engine. I dont have much info on the boat and I am looking for some web sites or dealers of R/C boat parts.

Thanks,
FUZZ

Could you be a little more specific on what parts you need ? Reason - I know a few fellows who sell good items , that do not have a website and are sellers on EBAY that I personally can recommend. ( and are very reasonable )

Well,.......... Im looking for replacement belts and for extra props for this size of engine and boat. Most of the sites that i have seen dont get any bigger than the zenoah G-26.

Thanks,
FUZZ

Ok ... not sure what size prop you are looking for , but , there are lost of props out there . I believe the current largest is 82 mm ( which is almost 3 1/4 inches ) in diameter ( Prather props and I also think OCTURA makes them that big as well ) . Were you looking for bigger ? And for the starting belts , what kind of HP does that motor put out ? ( since that is what it will be based on )

The boat currently does have a prop but i dont know the size. The Quadra 52 is rated at 4.5 HP. The belt is a groved drive belt that spins the prop shaft. It looks like its appx 8in in diameter. I will add some pics of the boat soon.

Thanks,
FUZZ

Ok , props won't be hard to come by , but I fear that the belt might be .
There is a fellow who is also a member here on RCU that has a BIG hydro that he was trying to sell on EBAY a while back and he has that belt ratio gear setup .
You might want to try asking him directly what size prop and where he got the belt(s) from .
If I can find him on EBAY , I will ask him to let you know here on this thread .
FTR - he is in Okie ( Oklahoma ) and his boat is a light blue hydro )

VERY nice ! Got one question for you though . The CG looks like it might be kinda far back ? ( from the pics and looking at the motor where she is setting ) Could be just the angle the pics were taken from though ..
Also , did you build/make this yourself ?

You are in luck young man..............
i had the sister ship to your hydro only ran a 35cc kawasaki in it and it ran about 40 mph. the belt is a standard gates model try sears parts for the 4 x 36" belt/disc sander toothed belt.
as far as props goes ABC makes a 3" diameter prop that the 50cc would turn no problem. but the only problem is rpm or lack of.look at the go ped sites for the superior engines they are screamers and can be had up to 29cc. then mod em up and you got a screamer

Terbobob,

Nope I didnt build the boat. I got it from a fellow club member who ran it just like it was a few years ago. I assume that it was all balanced just like he left it. I have to speak with him again about the balance point on this boat. I am very new to the boat stuff. I have done R/C planes and cars for years but never any boats. I am a total newbie in this area. So,.....No I dont know what the CG on this Boat is. All I know is that the previous owner told me that he had ran it before and that it ran great. Any info would be very helpful though.

Thanks,
FUZZ

just like settin up a plane for its first flight if ya dont know the proper CG, set it at 25%.

so the same thing goes for a hydro....... set the cg at the turn fin that will get ya in the ballpark

fastrat
I think that the CG should be in the right spot, " I hope so anyway". I spoke with the previous owner and he said that its setup just the way he had ran it last. Also would you have any detailed photos of your hydro, that way I can get an idea of how I will set mine up?
PS ,....... You stated to set the CG at the turnfin,.........Where exactly is that at? I know this probably sounds like an elementary question.

Thanks,
FUZZ

Turnfin on a hydro is located on the right side at the back of the right sponson . ( the thing that sticks out on the front/sides . It will be usually made of aluminum and will be at the back of the sponson sticking in the water . Usually will be tear drop kinda shaped .

Well,........ I've got the grafix on and have the radio gear installed,....... im now just waiting on my pushrod gaskets and water pump and I'll be finished. And I am also having a tough time finding a canopy that will fit. Ive looked at several different airplane canopies and havent found one yet.
