Default RE: Super G' owners ~~ This is our thread

hey guys........
Heres a pic of my G.......I love it!! My buddy just bought a yellow one in kit form, saved a few bucks. I was not aware we could do this. When he got the boat (4 weeks) all the holes were drilled, the motor and stuffing tube were installed, not much of a kit (3 hours).

I am very interested in upgrading mine with a water cooled exhaust, a diff. outdrive and a hatch ( love that look!!......) My buddy has a super-sport with duel rudders, spd drive and a pipe. It makes a big difference!!!! My only issue with the G is that it carves to the right if i floor it from a dead stop, cant seem to shake it. Once the boat is moving it straightens out perfect though...If I try to compinsate with a little trim tab action, It will make the boat run tilted once moving.....No biggie, anyone else have this issue or am I doing somtin wrong??

I am almost at my mark for another boat.......I am just not sure if i want to go with a avenger(cat) or a wwh manta ray( I want some size here!!! BIG BIG)( speaking of big dam pchm those boats are huge in ur pic make the G look Like mini-G).......I was sold on a used cat for awhile. I decided to save a few extra bucks and go new.........Hymmmmmm what to buy??

I was always told that a cat handles waves A++++ But after reading up a little I guess theres no beating a v-hull ( is there ).........??
I love the look of a cat....But it can get rough where I run.....But then again I do like to have diff. body styles.....
I used to have a lap cat but the water was always to rough to run.........Maybe the size will make a huge diff.........well see!!!
Later all!!......

Yes, seen your boat & chatted with you in the past. The boat pulls to the right on take-off due to the prop. Theres not much of a way around it as the prop is burried when sitting still. I like to compensate by adding a touch of left rudder during those dead stop full throttle shots and gradually release as the speed comes. I don't know if the dual rudder will help or not in that situation & could be worth exploring. Not much in the way of a tab issue during that time though.

Cats & rough water? Humm. The only one I've heard about that can handle heavy chop is the AC Blast Cat.

Off subject but how do you like the Fun Cruiser? Looks like a peanut next to the G'.

Anyone interested in buy a G, mine is for sale. Make offer, listing is in classifieds. Send me a message for more pics or info. Really love the boat but need money for school. [&o]
I saw the ad, good looking boat for sure, but the price seems a bit high, that could be why no interest. Just an observation and nothing more. Maybe if you sit on it for awhile you will get that out of it.

BTW, off topic, but which drivers are on your hatch? Nice looking G for sure!

Well, I went and played boats last night and my engine cut off in the middle of a run, just died. When I got it in it had taken a bit of water in through the exhaust hole in the stern and had water logged the engine. So today I pulled it apart to dry it out. I think my full mod Cobra 30cc has gone to Homie heaven. There is a hole in the piston, not sure but I think the jug is a goner also. I have another stock water cooled 30cc jug and piston, but I may call it quites on the Homies.

PHCM, what kind of speeds are you getting with that Zen? I may get a 260 and try it out. Would love to consistently run in the upper 40's.

Talking aircooled...
For this boat, don't spend your cash on a Zen, but a SIKK. You can get a 27 Sikk for roughly $ 140.00. Its the exact same engine as the RC230 aircooled, just 27 cc's.

Here's my RC230 Zenoah on the left & SIKK 27 on the right. Took the Zen out & swapped the mount & clutch over to the SIKK. Only took a few minutes. Yours is a Homi' but still not hard.

[link=http://cgi.ebay.com/3-8-H-P-2005-RED-CAP-ZENOAH-G260RC-GOPED-FREECLUTCH-FG_W0QQitemZ6002183707QQcategoryZ44028QQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem]RC260 260cc[/link]

They say free clutch, but you still need the endbell and collet. Save some cheese & post a WTB on Jims & get a clutch for almost nothing. Clutches for Zenoahs work on the SIKK. You won't be dissapointed.

PHCM, you are fast on the reply! I like that in a forum member.

Actually, I want a water cooled engine, but the Sikk is probably the direction I will go. Have any nice links to water cooled 27cc Sikks?

I did go ahead put my engine back together with the stock (water cooled) 30cc jug and piston and it purrs like a kitten. Sounds WAY better than the highly modded Cobra ever sounded, which makes me think it had problems from day one.

Yea,
I liked the fun cruiser.........Its a nice boat for a beginner and just havin fun cruising around..........Theres no comparision as far as the craftmanship of the boat and especially the hull................But im sure if you wanted to modify it, it could be great!! I put a HP carb, velosity stack and a sharpened prop on the boat, that was as far as I wanted to take it!!! The boat got a little unstable with only a few mini mods. Anything more i think it would flip like a pancake!!!
I give it an overal 6 where the G is an 8( in my book )........Its kinda crazy when you figure there the same price!!!!! If I bought a funcruiser instead of a G Id be dissapionted!!!!

Davcruz, you caught me at a good moment. I've got some pics of the watercooled 27 Sikk version on my home PC. Give me a little & I'll post them for you. I think the conversion is going for $50 +/-. Still, you get a 27 cube engine a lot less than a new 260 Zen.

Funcruiser... Like a lot of people, I've had my eye on one for a few years. They've got a style all their own. If I bought one, I'd like a blank hull & use the Enforcer / Ocutra running gear.

Here you go.

Just checked & the price I stated was very close to what these conversions are running.

This is how mine looked after receiving it and during installation. Very easy.

Once again, thanks for the info! So you bought an air cooled version like the one in the link you posted and then bought the water cooled 27cc kit for it? And still spent less than a 260pum goes for? I have only seen that kit from ONeil Bros and they want $119 for it. Where did you find it? Can you tell I am on a budget?

The first engine in my boat was a stock RC230 Zen. I bought the 27cc watercooled conversion from [link=http://www.mastonsrcmarine.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page8.html]Mastons Marine[/link] for $60 +/- (don't remember the exact cost). Ran it through break-in & got one or two runs. SOLD it. Thats the one you see in the above pics.... Zen230RC lower & 27 Sikk jug.

A few weeks later, one of the guys on Jims... [link=http://p086.ezboard.com/bjimsrcboatdock.showUserPublicProfile?gid=dasboata]dasboata[/link] (Chris) had some 27 SIKK aircooled engines for cheap money. Want to say I paid less than $120 shipped for mine as he was wanting to get rid of them.

That is whats currently in my boat now. Don't ask why I don't watercool as I don't know. Maybe because its too easy to play with like it is? Or lack of interest in that area.

Or even email Larry [link=http://p086.ezboard.com/bjimsrcboatdock.showUserPublicProfile?gid=fastratf ink]FASTRAT Zen-master Guru[/link]. Tell either one of those guys I sent you but many people have done business with them and are quite satisfied.

So figure you can buy the Aircooled 27 SIKK for $130'ish & put the conversion on there yourself for $60-70$'s & you're still much under the cost of a new 260 zen.

Holler again,
Jamie

Looks really good. I'm not a big fan of the center pipe & like a 100° or 105° due to them being easier to tune. No way knocking your rig though. Can't wait to see it in action.

I'm hoping to be part of the Super G club soon. I'm going for the builders kit as soon as I get the greenbacks together. I've got the Team Pro right now. Is there anything I should watch for or do thats not stated in the building instructions? I noticed it comes with a composite rudder, should I opted for a metal one?

Anybody have any comparison video of this boat running with some of WHH bigger boats?
I have an older Revenge and I have always liked the looks of this boat and I was thinking about getting this as a kit and building it.
Anybody drag race or have speed runs with another boat??

Its not a racer by no means. I've got my a@# handed to me many times but I feel I had more fun because it was so unpredictable in the waves. Compared to the other WHH boats? In calm water I know for a fact that the hull will run upper 40's with a mild engine & pipe. The problem is keeping it on the water. The boat has a lot of lift built in as it was orriginally designed back in the day with the heavier Homelite engines in mind. My last Super G' always ran better with the heavier RC230 Zenoah vs the lighter 260's without adding weight.

This last time out with the Team Pro, I was running a mid mod 260 and tried everything but tucking the drive under the bow to keep the nose down. The best thing was a soaked rag a few inches in front of the engine.

Having said all that, I feel the G, SS, TP hull is faster in the calm with a stock engine vs any other old school mono from WHH. Seems a given due to the size & weight differences. Now put those hulls against the Magnum or Manta in the rough.... nope.

Well that's about what I was expecting
How is this boat in rough water probably pretty crazy cause of it's short length.
I have an older Revenge boat (I would post pics but they will get removed)
It has the narrower beam and the longer hull with a modd 23cc BH hanson in it and it rips pretty good but get it on some chop and it really flies but its un predictable.
My buddy is running a Manta Ray and it loves the chop.
I am looking for something to pound on kinda in the middle!
