This is my first gas boat, I love it! I changed the graphics a bit, added 275 pol/bal prop, Bonzi clutch and added a Spektrum package. Out of 4 gallons of fuel I flipped it once. I run it wide open all the time. It runs best in a slight chop instead of flat water. I adjusted the strut up to get it loose and it runs great on the back 6-8 inches.

The Black Jack is a fun boat to have. Its very strong.

To rid of te flipping issue change the rudders to the aeromarine one which is on their front page. She will handle a ton beter its like night and day.

You can buy a solid clutch from warehouse or bonzi , they both are the same.

Those suggestions may help

Pics of your strut setting? Typically, you lower a strut to run the boat loose. Everything I see people say about their blackjack seems they do everything opposite other boats. Or are you talking about adjusting the strut ANGLE up? I'm confused lol.

Nice looking boat, the graphics made a nice difference.

I own many RC aircraft and cars. They all have lasted a long time.... I take very very good care of my models.
So is it accurate to say that if I do the required after-run maintenance this boat will likely be a good buy?

One thing that can be said about Proboat is they reply quickly with replacement parts under warranty. My clutch went on the weekend and a new one along with replacement parts for some items I noted during the disassembly are on the way today.

the only thing i've had to replace are the rudders. they snapped off in a spin out. the shafts seem to be very brittle, but aeromarine has a good replacement set for aprox. the same cost as the oem. i've had mine since march.

7016-3 prop and a 2 inch band pipe, all else is stock. The prop only works in choppy water. Dont know the speed but its a huge difference over stock, huge.
I ran the prop in flat water and the motor wont pull it.

does anyone know how to remove the clutch shoe holders ( I don't know the correct name of this part)from the crank shaft, I'm just having bad luck with the zenoah motors, this is the 3rd motor, i took the advice from a local hobby store, and used only 5 oz/gal of synthetic oil, the motor heated up and fused the piston/cylinder... i think by the 4th engine i will get it right..

your prop is too deep in the water, raise the strut 1/16" by 1/16" tile your cat runs well in the flat water, also make sure the pipe length is more than 11-1/2" otherwise your prop won't turn fast.

Hey Eric- quick question about the pipe length. If you are running a muffler, should that be added to the pipe length as well, or do you only count to the tip of the original pipe? Also, it the length measured from the manifold flange, around the bend and to the tip, of just from after the bend? Thanks.

Joe, the measure of the pipe length is from center of the flange straight back to the center of band, I tried a few diff lengths, the best one is 11-1/2" to 11-3/4".

May be a silly question but is that a wet or dry pipe. I've heard the dry pipes are better for tunning (RPM/hp) but they run too hot in an enclosed hull. Is this true? Also, if you run a dry pipe I assume you still cool the manifold?

here's my NFS two stage steel hot pipe, as you can see it in the picture, there is a no water leak flange in it to cool down the pipe, I've tried many diff pipes, it's the most powerful pipe to me.

I hope this is an ok question to ask here.. I picked up a used Blackjack with no motor, and I am wondering what would be a decent and fairly fast motor with out breaking the bank?
Looking for 45+ mph. Saw the Sikk 25.4 for only $370 with steel pipe.
any thoughts would be great, thanks

i haven't had any experience with the sikk motors but my zenoah is stock except for a .002' copper head gasket to raise compression a little. and mine does 42mph with an x472 with the strut even with the stuffing tube. i do want to add a cc racing 2" band pipe to it.

How big is the gas tank on these, and how many minutes can you get on a full tank?
Thanks

Has anyone tried two motors in their Blackjack 55?
