Hey Matt,

Can you post up some pics of the inside of yours? That might help pyro understand. Was it built of single 1.5 oz mat or what? Seems to me a boat of that size needs at least a 1/4" balsa or foam core sandwich style layup on any of the large flat surfaces to hold itself together.

Sent the guy an email asking for more info and detailed pics. He replied "The hull is all boxed up and bubble wrapped" so no additional pics will be available unless it doesn't sell than he will relist with better pics

1200 grit toilet paper, of course. Anything under 600 just tears it up...

First you need a lot of fiberglass and resin... Then you need a tucks pad to soothe the itching.
Then you sand, Then you use the tucks again.
THen you putty, tucks again
Then you sand, tucks again.
Then you prime and paint.

You know if I bought a quality hull in the first place my ass wouldn't hurt so much!

I'm not trying to be a spoil-sport guys as I swear like a Sailor but this is a family-friendly site. If you can't play by the rules set forth by those higher up on the food chain, take your ball and go home.

Matt, Feastering Heap of Resin is cool, you can call it a Pile Of Snot if you want to as long as you spell it out.

I tried to build one of these cats before. Total piece of junk. I gave up after a few hours because it just needed too much work (and $$) to get it into shape. The entire hull was like a egg shell.

Would make a great decoration in an Applebee's or FRidays hanging on a wall.

If you suspended it from the ceiling with a wire to the bow and stern it would probably fold in the middle.

Be a good decoration but I sure wish I did not pay around $100/pound for it. (and yes $100/pound is not far from the truth)

I have to add to this, I got a boat made from the same guy who designed these cats and when I got it he told me that the hull and deck were properly joined together and all I needed to do was mount my hardware and engine, anyway the boat weighed almost nothing and there was NO fiberglass, just about 2mm of resin throughout the entire boat, and the transom was the same, 2mm of resin for the transom?? unacceptable, anyway, since the deck and hull were glued (yea glued with what appeared to be wood glue) together very crooked I began taking it apart and laying fiberglass. If this boat hit a tiny wave at even 20mph it would be destroyed, this guys work is horrible and should not be considered by anyone unless he gives it to you and you have a lot of time and materials to work with.

I dont know - I would much rather pay $400 than what I paid

Shipping within the US is going to save on customs and broker charges also.

I just wish he was a little more open in his discription rather than going after the $$.

Every boat from the "master builder" is basically a shell or skin. You really need to significantly reinforce every part of the boat before it could be used for anything. Also the finish of the boat is dismal. Looks fine from 15 feet away but any closer and it gets ugly quick [X(]

Well, that "Festering Piece of Resin" just went for 800 bucks. Can somebody say "Holy KY BatMan"? To complete the transaction, the buyer needs to post on RCU and ask for advice on the build. Yes, the Circle of Life is complete.
