Default ac lazer 45 VS 17' aluminum fishing boat

here are some pics of my custom ac lazer 45 after someone (not me) ran it full speed into the side of a 17' aluminum boat... but if anyone knows someone that can fix it let me know...[

Man that sucks! I don't think anyone can match up the metal flake in the gel so you might want to think about painting a flame on the nose or just an Orange nose cone like some of the full size boats do. It can be fixed though as it's not the riding surface. You might have to redo your CG after the repair.

Do you know Zac Price? He would know someone who could fix it, might cost you a bit though as a professional fiberglasser doesn't work cheap. Most of the work is just labor intensive, filling and sanding, if you can do some of it yourself then pay for a nice paint job you can save money. You could always cover the repair with stickers, that would be cheapest (nasty too) [8D]

A replacement hull is $269 plus shipping from their site. You could prob find it in the U.S. at a good price. Would likely be cheaper than trying to fix it.

Sad isn't it? Replace is cheaper than fixing! As far as I know there are only 2 Lazers in Aus, people would kill for it even busted up but the shipping is around $385-$450.

That looks easy to repair. Some fibreglass resin and matting on the inside once the hull and deck are taped into place, then get the shape back as best you can, filler will do the rest. Then, as posted elsewehere, a partial repaint of the nose should hide it OK.

That looks easy to repair.

yea... looks easy. The ac boats have a bulkhead that makes it hard to get up there in the nose to make that an easy repair.

The easiest way to repair that if you decide is this: Make sure the forward bulhead is sealed so nothing can get past it, use tape if necessary. Cut away all loose fiberglass and grind the edges around the damage. Get some two part foam and mix a little and pour it into the bow form the damage (this is why it is important to seal that bulkhead so the foam does not go too far back. Once the foam kicks, let it cure a few hours. The foam will be easy to shape. Once you have it shaped, glass over it, fair it out and paint. Keep it as light as possible, and now you will have extra flotation in the bow.

Flabum has the right idea there id do as he says its simple enough to do.why do you say you cant do it? fibreglassing isnt that hard to do its just messy . If you take your time you can fix it and it would be hard to see the damage if done right. My son made a mess of my woody and i repaired it and you cant see the join now.If you use the foam as said it is dead easy to shape and then just coat it with thin glass cloth and resin. In my experience from flying planes and crashing them the damage allways looks worse than it actually is.A bit of time and effort and things wont seem so bad trust me.Heres a cpl of pics of my boat before and after repaires.Nothing is irepairable ive repaired planes that most would have burnt and they looked as good as new in a week or so.

For sure new hull time. It would take about 4 x longer to fix it than to make an entire new one in the molds. The labor cost is much more than the materials in an RC boat.
