A lot has been done to develop this awesome class and I guess the showdown in March at the Tunnel ShootOut in Charlestown, South Carolina will answer many questions. For those who are serious about Gas Tunnels - hope to see you there.

Whoever places top 3 in the 20 tunnel, sport 20 tunnel and 40 tunnel classes, is the man, plain an simple. Those classes are chocked full of AWESOME competitors from around the world.
I will say, from the video you sent me, the big boats do run well. Glad to hear the flex shaft problem is getting straightened out.
Mark, I hear ya, and i'm glad you are bringing the big boat back.
See you guys in March, the first round of beers is on Oval Express Racing.

RE: 1/4 scale Gas Tunnel boat ... what to build?
Hey Guys,
I have talked several times in the past here on RCU about Tunnel Hulls. I have the thread "Very large scale tunnel hull" [http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.a...unnel%2Chulls]
I came across this thread talking about Tunnel Hulls and the Predator X Aeromarine Hull. I was just wondering how that hull is doing with the Lawless setup? I purchased the Aeromarine Predator X sometime ago and have the G260 PUM stage 1 engine too. I am still waiting to hear back from Fred at Lawless about the drive though (?).
I had a very bad run in with Chris Rabito at Blackhawk Hobbies. I had ordered his supposed outdrive unit which was supposed to be a minature Merc outboard along with a 57 inch Tunnel Hull. After about a 6 month wait and a mirad of lies from him I had called for a refund. The end result was my bank giving me my money back and the BBB, Attorney General of Louisiana and Wells Fargo all going after him. An unfortunate ending but got my money back.
So Beware of Blackhawk Hobbies.
I still want to build the Tunnel Hull I have. Do you know if Fred has started shipping the outdrives yet or is he still working on them? I have tried to contact him and left messages but no reply. Do you have any other ideas or know where I might find an outdrive?
Thanks,
Mark Foster

Both the red and yellow boats in the pics above run the lawless leg and after some development in conjunction with Mr. Young it is starting to pay divedents. This past weekends fun day with us proofed the boats to run reliabally at speed for extended periods. Well done there! See earlier posts on this topic for more details about Youngzdesign boats.

Mark Foster, send me an email. I have alternative lower units ready to go. No issues with shaft breakage, and they are available now.

Wayne, the pics and prices are all listed on the website. And yes, all prices include free shipping in the US and EU. Thanks!

Shall we tell them what we clocked the tunnel at on the fun day or save it for the "world " champs!!???

Lets hear how fast you got her, there are not many gas boats in the US yet, much less fast ones.
Better yet, did anyone have a video camera that day? I have seen a short video of Dominics boat, its was only about 5 seconds long, but it looked decently quick.

James,
Hell no mate !!! I am NEWBIE deluxe!!! Dominic just used my gps to clock his boat!!
I have a video clip of his boat running and will try post it later tonite!
I am in no position to give away his speed, He has put in decades of R&D and I am not sure if he wants his specs published yet! Besides if I had designed that rig I would want to be the one that publishes the spec!
I know it will get faster too!
I will agree it is a good looking setup, very stable and quick!
Regards
Stuart

RE: 1/4 scale Gas Tunnel boat ... what to build?
Its amazing how quickly this thread moved all the way to page 4. Is it because no one sees this class growing as other gas boats or is it because of the problems all these boats have?

RE: 1/4 scale Gas Tunnel boat ... what to build?
Believe it's a little of both.. Since there's not that many options, until lately, on lower units, it's a bit slow growth.. Last I heard, there are now 11 gas boats entered into the 2008 World Outboard Tunnel champs.. I'll be starting the build of a 47" WOF to be used at the race in a few weeks. Give it time to grow.. Gas boats took awhile to get out of the 25mph range...
