rudder assembly and prop shaft strut anyone?
Hey all was going to do some asking around and see if anyone has something setting around before I go ahead and begin on building a rudder(single) assembly and prop shaft strut/mount. If anyone has any rudder plans that would be helpful if anything. You can check out the two monos my friend and I are in the process of building here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6603851/tm.htm Thanks again everyone. Edmond

RE: rudder assembly and prop shaft strut anyone?
try this place they have good hardware for cheap prices.i have a strut from them and an ali prop and both are great, the strut is better than my marine speciality one and the prop came sharp and polished and farely ballanced.just stay away from the blue anodized crap they have its cheap rubbish but the other stuff is great.

Wow thanks for all the info! Your right, thats not a bad price on that web page. I already have a few question about how to asseble the strut. I noticed that the strut you were showing me is a 1/4'', is that the best size to go with for a weedy?

yea you need to go 1/4 for the flex but you can go smaller on the actual shaft as some do but id stay with 1/4 ,you can get flex shafts allready welded to a ss shaft ready to trim to length and this saves on soldering to a ferrule.with these you need a shaft saver between the flex hex collet and the stuffing tube i use a small zip tie some use silicone tubing and some use wheel collars.on my weedy i have a clutch with a square hole to accept the flex so if yours is like that you wont need a collet but you do then need something between the motor and the stuffing tube to stop the flex cable sliding out of the hole ,a wheel collar or spare drive dog on the flex or as i do a zip tie on the flex shaft will work,or you can put a drive dog behind the strut between it and the boat put a washer between it and the strut too .heres a pic of a typical strut setup with a ferrule if you choose to go that route.
