Looks nice. If possible, you might want to consider removing that bend from the rudder push rod. Straight as you can is sthe best way for solid steering.

Nothing wrong with the way the tube is glued into the boat. Pretty standard build.

RE: Mercury Cat.
Well ive met Brod and hes a nice fella and his boat looks good, the bend in that rudder pushrod is never gonna bend its very strong!! it came with the boat i think ?.The tube is just siliconed in there ,i suggested making a tube holder as ive never known anyone just use silicone to hold the tube like that before.Maybe you guys have and could comment on this and save him some work if its gonna be ok?.Hes hoping to get her ready over the next week or so,Dave how did you fix your tube into the mercury cat prototype?.

Thanks Mart hope Dave responds.
Just thought i could graft a ply piece with a hole for the tube/shaft,take the motor and coupling out and slot it over and then epoxy to the hull and ply sides.
Shouldnt be too tricky.

RE: Mercury Cat.
sounds like a good idea mate its only to stop the tube from moving ,if you can get some bigger brass tube to slide over it you could even epoxy that to the ply tube holder that way everythings fixed but the stuffing tube will still slide out if needed.

Brod. So long as the tube is pushed into the back of the strut then I see no problem with it being siliconed into the hull. You are an experienced modeller and you will know what looks right and doesnt look right. Its best to email me direct with queries as I don't look on the forums too often. A bend in the rudder pushrod is a bad idea no matter how tough it looks but it may be OK.

I think the idea Brod had of making a ply holder was a good one we talked about it last night and looking at those pics i posted i think its doable without too much trouble .I dont like the idea of silicone holding a stuffing tube near the motor on its own to be honest. The hull looks quite tidy ,rails are nice and it shouldnt take too much work to get it done once he gets time to work on it.

Wayne, the person selling those hulls on eBay UK also sells them here in the US. He's the same one who sent me the shots that I posted above.
The bend in the stuffing tube appears to be a bit too much. You want the bends as gentle as possible.
If he wants to remove the silicone he can add an extra piece of brass tubing over the existing one or use as-is. Tape under the hull then pour some epoxy in there.

His is fine, Wayne's is the one that I was worried about.
Stateside some Cat hull owners are using the Butch Block. It's a nice piece for sure but may be just another piece of bling to the average Cat owner. What also is nice is that it comes with an alignment kit to get the hole in the proper spot.

RE: Mercury Cat.
Mines fine ron but thanks for the concern ! ive been using the same flex all season with no problems or wear also runs at 57mph on my garmin g.p.s@17421rpm with my bonzi mid mod .. Oh n ron if u wish to purchase me a couple of those expensive butch blocks i will use them for u in my next build cheers matey very nice of u! on the other hand if u can cut some alloy at 5" then center a hole u also have a true line up thats lighter /cheaper than a butch block. Its a "wayne block" may not be blingy but it works
