Default "Good" RTR Gas Boat with reasonable money?

Hello People,

I have start RC Boat driving&learning this year and my boat is SuperVee 27 Brushless. Now it´s time to get a new BIGGER boat because 27" is too small to the lake where i drive(waves are a bit too big for sv27 so it´s not possible to drive it every week) and i think petrol engine would be better because of the longer runtime and it´s cheaper then electric(batterys etc. are very expensive) []

Now to the point

Can u people give any hints for a good RTR Gas boat(I believe that a +40" would be enought long)?
Also im not able to put lots of money on it so no need for the best

Would it be cheaper to use nitro? and any other + reasons to use it?

Thanks advance

The Rio 51, and now the header problem is fixed, so it will be a good deal to get you started in bigger gas boats..
Read as much as you can, and know what to expect before you get it.. The Rio is like 51 inches not counting the drive gear and rudder..
It looks really nice(like an actual super boat) and has a great company behind it..

I say great company, because they listened to us modelers about the header, and they fixed it...

I say go with a Rio 51... good luck..

Oh BTW... 650 dollars from Tower right now... cheaper if you use your Tower cupons and stuff.

I would think the deep vee would be better on waves, but not for certain.. Also Nitro will cost a lot more to run than a weed eater motor deal found on the big gas boats... Nitro motor need to be really fine tuned(from what I hear)

You're not going to get a fast boat in your price range as you are at the bottom of the price scale for a gas boat. Swapping out the prop on the Rio 51 will give you another 3-4 MPH.

Rio-51- 40 MPH out of the box.

Rio-51-not expensive for your price range.

Rio-51-good way to get started in big gas boats.

Rio-51= 51" long, not including the drive unit..

Seems to be exactly what you're looking for, and you can always juice it up when the money is there..

First, when u say "not including the drive unit" what is a drive unit in Gas boat? I know that i only need to buy batterys for receiver and controller? It seems like the boat is ok if there would be more power?
I have run my SV27 with 14 cells etc. for a some time and now need more speed and handling in rough water[>:]

The drive unit Eric is referring to is that black assembly sticking out of the transom of the boat. Consists of the strut, prop...

with a good BC or SS prop you should be able to get above 40mph,

unfortunately if you want more speed you will have to shed more cash and that is something we all had to do.

Hey guy's, I agree the rio51 is the best bet, I only wish the factory would have made good of the known exaust manifold problem. Mine blew after 2nd run. I welded it (not very easy i might add) got afew more runs then the entire exaust side of the cylinder head exploded, Believe this is due to insuffcient water cooling but am not sure. Think now that I will swap motor for 260pum.......but as for the hull I believe It's solid and runs flawless @ 40mph....

Rsupreme

The header broke due to poor welding and the exhaust flange dew to preload

All new shipments of the rio 51 have been fixed

Thanks Guys

Mike, for those that are getting or wanting the upgraded version, is there any way to tell that they're getting the new one? I'm guessing that some places may still have the first version in stock.

yeah I've asked this already, and I have the money now to go ahead and get one, but waiting for a sure-fire way to tell if it's the "fixed" version before I order from Tower.

Thanks, Grim for the information thus far..

Also, I would get a first version if a discount or cash-back rebate was offered.. That way I could just go ahead and get a upgrade muffler system..of my choice..

Isn't the V24 discounted at Tower?.... almost a 100 dollars cheaper than the Rio right now..
