factory stock sikk 25.4cc or factory 260pum zenoah
with out being a motor mod guy i would run the stock cy/sikk in my boats with the only problem being the starter ring breaking.
the power ratings are on out of the box motors.
260pum zenoah is 3.2 hp
25.4 sikk/cy is 4.5hp
both motors are proven power houses, but with no modds witeither the cy is the better performer.i have goten great results with the stock cy,plus its cheaper than the zen.

here's my Reline 260, it came with a dyno test sheet, as you can see the paper, this engine outputs 6.75HP at 15000RPM, 5.5HP at 18000RPM, if I re mount it to my rigger, it could pull my rigger into 81-82MPH.

RE: factory stock sikk 25.4cc or factory 260pum zenoah
if this is modded then what and where is the stock ones at and what are the numbers?
i have too many boats to list that have the sikk motor, none of them are modded,i do have the zenoah motor in 14 boats that have no proplems.
my point is that the most bang for a buck is sikk hands down,i did the builds myself, and the sikk motor is more powerful than the zen.
i guess that if you want a modded motor then go zenoah all the way.i dont mod my motors myself,to match the numbers you will spend almost twice the money to get the same power ratings that the sikk has,a stock zen is the benchmark that all copies are using,i also realize that the zen is a great motor.but the sikk isnt modded it comes from the factory this way.
Zenoah G260PUM 3.25 HP Marine Engine
$219.00
The 2006 Zenoah G260PUM watercooled marine engine is a 25.4cc (34mm bore, 28mm stroke) performance machine. It features a red silicone spark plug cap, 4 transfer port 34mm cylinder, high-performance single-ring piston, Walbro WT-644 carburetor (15.88mm bore, 12.7mm venturi, adjustable high and low jets), and re-designed "hemi"-style combustion chamber. Air filter and muffler not included.
For Scooters: This engine is NOT a direct-bolt on replacement for any scooter, and requires custom fabrication to install. Recommended only for advanced and mechanically savvy users. For scooter use, this engine must be used with an external water pump and radiator (not included).
For R/C: Fits a wide variety of R/C boats.
Engine Stats: Displacement: 25.4cc. Power: 3.25HP @12,500 RPM. Torque: 1.52 ft/lbs @9,500 RPM. Timing: 30 degrees BTDC @ 7,000 RPM. Compression Ratio: 8.4:1. Fuel: 90 octane (using the R+M/2 octane rating method) or higher mixed 25:1 with 2-stroke oil.
Sikk 25.4cc Marine Motor
This is the brand new sikk marine motor. This motor stock puts out 4.5hp and with a tuned pipe 5.5hp. This motor comes with a walbro wt-771 carb, motor mounts and carb linkage, stuffed crank.

al at BH Hanson used a alum pipe to dyno a stock 260, 3.8 HP @ 15000 RPM, if he uses a 0" or 1" band steel pipe for it, the numbers would show better.

Mate they dont make a stock one as i say its modded when its made so yes they call it stock but technicaly its not as it has some modification done at the factory.Anyways just read all the threads on them and do what changes you think are needed to limit the chances of a failure .I know one guy had 2 fail in the same way and they were both new out of the box not full mods.I know there are many running them but most ive spoken to have made the changes recomended .That said ive not read of as many of the bigger sikk failing but they dont rev nearly as high.

RE: factory stock sikk 25.4cc or factory 260pum zenoah
full circle crank doesn't add HP, in fact if you put one in a stock Zenoah you will loose HP. Full circle crank makes the motors run smoother. In some engines it acts as a stuffer and increases HP but you can stuff too much and not have enough volume in your cases to have correct fuel flow. All the factors must be right for a full circle crank to increase your HP.
I tried a full circle crank in a QD bottom end on my M&D 254 cast motor and it produced less HP than the standard crank. Just food for thought. [8D]

This whole arument is pointless ,if you look at it this way they took the zenoah as the benchmark then changed a few things to give a tad more hp,so in effect were both right .The price of a zenoah versus a sikk is barley a few $$ and what you get with a zenoah is a motor that will last for years if looked after and it can also be modded safely without having to worry too much about it blowing up on you if looked after.I personally would never buy a sikk as its just not worth the risk of a blown cylinder id rather stick to the trusty zen but thats my choice.

ps no one knows what the stock sikk hp rating is as there isnt one its modded in the factory

A Sikk just has some things done that Zenoah could have done at the factory so for all intents and purposes, it is a stock engine and considered so by the US sanctioning bodies.
Both out of the box directly from the factories, the Sikk has more HP and RPM. Yes, the pull-starter is an issue and since changing mine over to the Zenoah, I haven't had any problems. You just have to do a slight mod to either the starter housing or the backplate on the Sikk. The mod only takes a few seconds to do with a Dremel cut-off wheel.

i just think for the $ the sikk gives you more for dollar.plus mount cones stock and not to say the bellcrank carb setup.with all of that in a package deal your ahead of the game if you run in stock class,
the 24.5 is the better motor, more revs than the 27cc.
with the money situation saving a buck or two aint bad,but as marto says dont try to mod this motor ,the factory has taken it to the max...

RE: factory stock sikk 25.4cc or factory 260pum zenoah
Just talked with someone today at OBR. I'm thinking of going with a Sikk 25.4cc with steel pipe (5.5hp). The problem they have with the blowout is only a $2 part, and with 5.5hp, this may be the route I take, was thinking of running brushless in my Blackjack 55, but for only $370 (motor, poipe, mount) for 5.5hp motor, this would be hard to pass up.. RE: factory stock sikk 25.4cc or factory 260pum zenoah
sikk got a new 4 bolt motor on the market. i run a old 2 bolt version for 2 years with only pull starter problems. switch to a zen part and problem solved. yes the sikk out of the box will definitly beat a std zen. for the price of the new 4 bolt version sikk i will rather buy a rcmk evo and have change left for a cold beer if sikk did solved theire faults on the early versions it will be a strong running engine, but for me i will buy a zen, mod it myself with scott's article at mgb and you have a strong running zen. if you can get the new sikk for less then $279 i will still take the rcmk evo.
