RE: f1 race boat gas
Anybody but me notice that the author of this thread hasn't replied to anything since his initial posting?
From what I've seen in Singapore, they run those inboard powered tunnel boats instead of hanging the engine off the transom. To me, that just doesn't look right. Why didn't they just use catamaran hulls if they wanted inboards?

RE: f1 race boat gas
Never mind, just so happened I got a call from Lawless letting me know my outdrive is on the way.
Now I'll start to get the hull ready.
Anybody have an e-mail address for Lawless outdrives.
I ordered one and just trying to check up on it before making a phone call.
Thanks, Nathan

RE: f1 race boat gas
Thanks Guys, Yep he was pretty cool on the phone.
Drives on the way, motor ready, all shined up.
What do you guys think about pipes. Performance, price, delivery?
I'll have to get one coming. Thinking about the QuickDraw pipe.
I hear the Johan pipe seems to be the better one out there.
Does he visit/logon here?
Here's a few pics of a P.I. Tunnel

RE: f1 race boat gas
Hi Ian
It has been a while since we have chatted, I am sure that your boat must be close to finneshed.
With regards to the throttle, it is best to fit an actuating arm on the bottom side of the throttles brass shaft so that you have a pull action rather than a push.
Once you have done this, you can fix the outer sleeve of the throttle cable to a point on the legs steering arm on the right hand side, close to the point where the sterring arm ball joint is fitted.
Regards
Dominic

RE: f1 race boat gas
YPC, I sent you an e-mail.
Ron, I'm lucky to live near P.I.,so when I bought from him I would drive over and pick it up.
I don't even know if he's still in business. Been year since I spoke with him.
I'm having my new Illusion built by Ivan's Boat Works.
Should have it here in a few weeks. Then I'll do all my rigging and get it ready for testing and hopefully
have it ready for the race in Durant,Ms.
Here's a shot of the P.I. Outboard without the cover.

RE: f1 race boat gas
Hi Hirobocool
Very neat boat, I guess you also know where everything is in your workshop LOL
I see that you have fitted a Lawless leg. I have worked with Fred for many years with the Lawless leg and will advise you to have a look at the mod we do to the leg which makes it far more driveable and a whole lot easier to set the boat up, especially for racing.
It is a inexspensive, very easy mod and i will go as far as saying that it is the BEST mod I have ever done to my boat set up.
check out our Accesories on www.youngzrcboats.com

RE: f1 race boat gas
Hi Hooter
I wanted to take some pics before I posted this so as to show you what I mean. We have found over the past months whilst running the new 2009 pipe that the 4 mm allen thread on the motor fixing point, holding the pipe bracket, tends to strip out after some running, due to the severe vibration of the motor and the resonnance in the pipe. The solution/ prevention is to fit a simple bracket around the stinger and secure it to the cavitation plate platform of the leg, as seen in picture. Be sure to still secure the original bracket as well.as any metal to matal vibration will cause radio interfernce.
Remember when doing final fitting of the pipe. DO NOT use the conventional exhaust gasket as it burns away, allowing the manifold to leak and become loose. Use a high heat gasket silicon on both surfaces at the manifold, use a high heat locktite on the manifold 5mm bolts, and then smear silicon around the heads of the allen bolts. Ensure enough drying/curing time for the silicon and locktite before use.
Look forward to hearing how it all goes.
Regards

RE: f1 race boat gas
Hi Hirobocool
The ZAR currency fluctuates allot so I would suggest that you check the exchange before you consider any purchase www.xe.com as we always sell in ZAR.
We have two finishes:
Black $ 224-00 ZAR18550-00
Nickel $244-00 ZAR2000-00
Shipping/Air $36-00 ZAR350-00
The YPC 2009 pipe is a complete unit and due to its unique design it does not require any water cooling or add on silencer.
