Yea, looks great... really like the screen in the scoop. I've been thinking of doing something like that in my Elam.

Here are a couple of pics from this weekend. This was the first run with all my changes. The boat ran great. By removing the wing, turbine, water pump, and clutch, I lost 26oz. from the rear of the boat. Plus I moved the battery from the battery box to in front of the fuel tank. I also cut my strut to give some negative trim, and tried out the new Venom 6518/3 aluminum prop. I'm very happy with the boat so far.

she came back in with the tail covered in ice!

OUTSTANDING....!! GREAT shots...... i don't know if this would work as a "de-icing agent....try spraying the tail fins and rear deck lid with Pam..(garlic or origional) might keep some of the ice (xtra weight) off..... glad your happy with her...speed= WHOO CARES...

Great pics 540, Man i hope i don't have to dump the wing, It just looks to good. maybe i can find some carbon fiber and make a new one for weight savings. Still having a bit of a problem deciding what to use for floatation. Pool noodles look funky, Anyone ever try to use a inflatable bladder, Weighs very little and can be removed easy. Never would soak up water. Any ideas other than exspansion foam or noodles.

I haven't added any floatation to mine as of yet, is that something I need to look into? And where the heck do you put it? There is hardly any room in these things...

[X(] MOST DEFINATELY ADD FLOATATION...sorry,don't mean to yell, but don't run it again till you do, IT WILL SINK...... [:@] what i did was splice pool noodle in half,and worked it's way up to the tip of each sponson,and back down the sides,.....expansion foam will pop your seams,I would'nt suggest it...... but as in my prior post,you can half a inner tube,using vulcanizing cement to seal the ends,insert and inflate..... [:-] it would be neat if someone... [:-] , DID make custom bladders for mono's,hydro's, deep vee's...... can anyone say ... KA-CHING

I'll for sure look into that then. I guess I haven't flipped mine YET, but I'll try to get something done before that happens.

Hey Jamming I just wanted to mention, I installed my square drive to replace the clutch and noticed I had to cut about 3/16 inch off of the stock drive cable to make it fit. I just used the trusty ole Dremel tool and a fiber cut-off wheel to whiz it right off. But I ran it three times last week and it worked flawlessly. Just thought I would give you a heads up about that. Seems like I saw that mentioned in another thread but I can't find it.

Does anyone know if there was two differn't drive cable made for this boat, Because mine is 1/4 inch cable and not 3/16th, Mine also has a teflon liner and a copper tube. There is no insert on the prop the hub is the same size as my WHH team pro. The guy i bought the boat from never ran it at all. Brand new when i got it.

My Bud boat came with the 1/4" square drive cable set-up also, (no ferrule) just cable soldered to prop shaft.....But if you look on the Horizon Hobbies site (i think) it shows a cable set-up with ferrule.......this the first time I've heard mention of this hull coming with a 3/16" cable......540, the info you can't find is from my http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_63...page_11/tm.htm thread....lots of good info in there ,just with any long thread,the good info gets lost in the pages.....

Thanks for the link, Read every word already. And still confused a bit about drive systems. Will need to do more digging. Can i just order any 1/4'' cable and re-solder the drive end.

I'm not sure if it will disolve in the fuel, but the bladder from a football might be worth a try.

My Elams had a 3/16 shaft that was attached to the flex shaft with a farrel the flex shaft was a 1/4 " square drive shaft that I replaced with the 1/4" drive shaft. This is the way all my gas boats drive is set up. This also uses the brass sleeves over the drive shaft. If you look back far enough in the forums (air foil) you can find pictures posted by I think BUDMAN and changes made to Miss Budwiser. He was also using the sleeves on the miss bud.
Sorry if there was any confusion, Jammin the screen turned out great, looks really awsome. let me know on the square drive;
Also my Elams has no where to put flotation, the front sponsons are filled with something already, looks like it came from the factory with front sealed off, just enough room for the fuel tank. There may be more differences than we might be aware of, not sure.

Thanks Randy

Mine is 1/4" flex shaft too, the only thing that is 3/16 is the prop shaft on mine. I just had to cut about 3/16 of length off of my stock cable to get it to fit right.

540, you and I have the same boat, I also have the Elams boat and mine is running great. I also lost the turbine off the boat when I installed the new shaft tube it would not allow the flex shaft to line up so I had to move the motor a little higher. The only reason I went to the round collet is because all my other boats have the same drive set up with the 1/4" threaded shaft. And my teflon tube started to melt. No need for the prop shims.
Those were great pictures, some of the best I have seen. Keep them comming.

Hello, I know this boat has been on this forum a few times, But maybe someone might be interested. Finished my throttle assembly and it's very smooth and thankfully i finished it without buying anything. Made from helicopter parts and some 4-40 stuff i had already. Also polished the rudder standoff and strut. Before and after picture posted. It was a pain because they must of put some type of plating on the aluminum, You know the stuff that looks cheesy. But they came out nice. just waiting on parts from speedmaster and a pipe from WHH. Taking a bit of time to get the speedmaster stuff since there in florida and me in washington. Ordered the M-5 kit from tony and will try the boat stock first then with the M-5 speed kit. Does anyone know how much i need to machine the stock rudder standoff to use the speedmaster rudder. Also found a better spot to mount the strut.

Jammin, working the inside area of the strut, needs to be opened wider, a good starting point would be 1/8 on the top and a little more on the bottom area. This is so the return on the rudder will clear under the strut.
Again I worked mine and tried and worked a little more, until I had the clerance needed.
Parts look so much nicer if you take the time to shine, looks good.

Good Luck;

Got my speedmaster rudder installed, Decided to use the Speedmaster standoff and not use the factory one. Of course after a two hour polishing i decide not to use it. The stock bracket only has two bolts so i machined the lower hole slightly to get the bolt holes to line up properly. Off by only a few thou, Then machines a sleeve for the hole to keep it perfectly centered. Worked out great. Now i just need to figure out the strut assembly. Still a bit lost here, I did find that the prop has a shim adapter in it. So does anyone have a link to what drive i need to buy to make the strut adapter fit the prop without the sleeve in the prop. Also i assume i need to drill out the strut to make it fit ? Or is the part that goes thru the strut a standard size. Confused about this part. [] Then i should get the pipe next week and i will be ready to test. I will attempt a video when i get to that point. Thanks ahead of time.

Finished the radio box, I am going to run the battery infront of the boat near the fuel cell, So the radio box can stay waterproof. Made a aluminum bezel and a new radio lexan cover to make it very water proof. I think it will also help balance the boat out. Also finished the canard foils for keeping the front down.

I ran mine this weekend and was very happy with the changes I've made. Sorry Bob, I didn't have time to add the floatation yet, but it is on the top of my list of things to do! But I GPS ed a speed of 48.6 on the first run!

That was without any weight on the front or any spoilers either. I tried the spoilers afterward and it does plant the front a little more. I think I'll take them back off though, shouldn't need them unless the water is really rough.
