Default 1/4 Scale Jet Sprint

Hi Guys

I am really keen to build a 1/4 scale jet sprint. I lack the expertise to design the hull from scratch but could probably build the hull and do the jet/motor installation and so on.
I have trawled over google and RCU but cannot find anything. I want to use a graupner jet 5 with a petrol engine and try to get it looking kind of scale.

Jet: http://www.highperformancemodels.com...nit%202347.htm

Please help, I would hear any suggestions as to where I could find a hull or anybody who has general plans for one.

Thank

Some pics of 2 of my boats and 3 of my pumps.

The smaller boat is by Craig of Swashdrive in Australia.

There are a few threads on this site if you do a search.

Cool stuff. Did not know they made jet drives. I own a real jet boat and is a blast to ride. These look like they would be just as fun and probably turn on a dime. Will look into this much more now. Thanks for the pics and info.....

Some video of a buddies Swashdrive -

(Onboard video - skip the first minute warm up. Certainly says a lot about the suction cup holding the camera on).

Thanks for the replies guys.

Infinity: Are you going to sell some hulls? I would most certainly be keen for one seeing as you are a fellow kiwi that is handy. How far away are you from churning out the finished product? By the way I couldn't see the videos.

The swashdrives are cool but also very expensive and his latest run has already run out.

i should be moulding the hulls in the next couple of weeks just waiting to hear back from my mate with mine at the moment.
I know the swashdrive is a bit more expensive but the quality is top notch.

Infinity: I like your boat. It is certainly one of the better looking jetsprints I have seen. I can see that the swashdrive is quality but he has run out of his latest run, they are more expensive, and he was a bit rude to me in an email that he sent me in reply to me questioning about hulls. So I do not feel inclined to buy from him. Can you PM me when you have a hull to sell. I am keen.

I have just bought a 30cc homelite engine from Matrix140 who was building another jet sprint. I know that they aren't too flash but for NZ$100 I cant really go wrong when you see that the price of a Zenoah 260 has nearly doublesd in price in NZ in the last 6 months. A 90 size nitro will set me back NZ$1000 aswell so that is out of the question for now.

I think someone needs to build a 1.4 scale jetsprint track. That would be cool.

Infinity: Yeah, They would make alignment a whole lot easier. They are pretty standard on most hulls.
Do you have any indication on how much you are going to sell them for?
It would be nice to know so that I can get my head around it a bit.

I have seen a futaba 3PM on Trademe for NZ$175 (not the 2.4ghz). It comes with 4 receivers aswell. What do you think of this as a suitable radio for my 1/4 scale. Right now I only have a pair of 2ch AM radios.

Cheers

yeah it should be fine. 4 recievers will be a bonus for the next boats (the bug will bite very soon)
was thinking 250 for a hull i dont want to ,ake money off of it just get more jet boats out there.

250 sounds pretty reasonable to me.

The bug has already bitten. One reciever will go into my car, and another will go into my current jet boat. It has twin jet unit 2 drives run by 700 size motors. although it still needs some work. Electrics are getting on my nerves.

I have just bought that radio gear from trademe. I am one step closer to my boat. Just need hull and jet. But the they don't seem so important to me. and then there is the extra 200 you end up spending for the last little bits and pieces that hold the boat together and make it work.
