TURBINE!!!!
Hey guys,i have seen a few videos of r/c boats with turbine motors...do you have any idea of how fast they really run? My father has a few r/c jets with turbines and the are FAST...200+mph!!!

I,ve been looking and have not been able to find any indepth info on these. how are they rated for power? what kind of speeds could you expect in a 60-70" cat w/twins. jason

If I remember correctly the jetcat or WREN turbines are around 10hp and weigh around 6 pounds, and a bargain price of $4000. This is just from memory though

Jet-cat turbines vary in thrust from 3lbs to almost 40lbs. Spool up to 165 thousand rpms. You would need a two stage and a large gear reduction. To get it down to the 20 grand needed. Check out jetcat web site tons of info. Mostly helicopter info. But its my understanding there working on a gas boat gear box and turbine.

Jetcats come with gear reduction, I believe the output is from 19,000 to 35,000. in the pic the purple and gray housing is the gear case (water cooled).
