Flex cable container
Thought I'd share this with you guys. I store my flex cables in oil between runs to prevent corrosion & keep moisture out. I used to use a small PVC pipe to store 1 or 2 cables at a time, but since the boat collection has grown I needed a bigger container. So I made this one earlier this week. It's a 50mm PVC pipe with one end cap & one screw cap glued on, then a piece of Ali cut to a disc & drilled to fit my various flex cables. I attached the disc to the lid with wire & a fishing swivel so that I don't have to go fishing through oil to get them out. This would be good for winter storage for you guys in the colder climates that have the problem with hard water. My container is quite long as I have Hydro flexs and needl;e bearing cartridges on my flex cables, a standard round collet flex container for a mono could be much shorter. With the holes in the disc only slightly larger than their corresponding flex shafts, the oil gets wiped off as you pull them out, making it relativley mess free.
