Default PHM Racing Pro Cat

I ordered one of these boats from Mike back in February and picked it up at the Flint, MI record trials almost a month ago. I've been working a lot of 12 hour days and 6-7 day weeks so I haven't had a lot of time to work on it until starting this past Saturday.
It's a legit copy of the PPBDrag Cat at less than half the price.
She's filled with an RCMK side exhaust engine sitting on RCMK engine mounts. Speedmaster hardware with a few Zippkit's pieces here and there. Pipe I picked up from Doubledog, I think that it's a muffled Hansen. Radio gear is all Hi-tec, FM system with a standard servo for the throttle and HS-645MG for turning.
It's finally very closeto being ableto hit the water on Saturday so I should have a video of its maiden voyage Saturday night. Don't expect a lot as I'll take it easy on its first runs.

I'll see what I can do for you Dan. The clubs lake has been windy the past few weeks making it hard for anyone to get high-speed passes. My Falcon 41 and even my little Wild Thing .12 mono both saw sky Monday. Walt Radzinski's boats including the Drag Cat that he bought from Wally (Tahoe 1970) did kite imitations. Hopefully we'll see calmer air Saturday.

Big Wheel With Little Spokes is going to try to pry the TX out of my hands once it's running. Now that this is done I started working on a mono for him to run.

I just talked to Walt a little while ago, I think that he's kind of excited also. We're going to have fun Saturday! Randy, Kevin and Shannon are supposed to be rolling there also so I'll have plenty of help.

Hope it's a big time Ron.

My guess is you'll be lossing the dual pick up rudder. Wally's right it's going to pull te boat right more than you'll like.

Good luck!!

If the dual pick-up rudder doesn't work it'll go to the sidelines.

Wally, where did you get the flush mount water pick-up at?

The Sublime kinda goes with the cat as if you look at it from the sides ir kind of has the lines of a `Cuda or Camaro on the sponsons especially in the rear half. I'm thinking that something like the AAR `Cuda blacked-out decal would look really good there. Wally's, now Walt's boat has the subtle lines.

Don't worry Wally, you sold the boat to the right person, he'll take very good care of your baby.

Hey Ron, I see we will be seeing more of each other in the "GAS" side (I still have the nitro 0.21 tunnels). hahhaha Good looking boat Ron. Keep on working... this hobby is expensive!!! For Paul and Wally, I have all my parts, I am just waiting on the boat. I oredered a 42 inch sprint cat from CC racing in the middle of last week. They told me a 1-2 weeks, becuase they drop ship it from aeromarine already "reinforced". I ordered mine blue top and white bottom.  [ I got the SS engine, w2716 from dasboata, redline hotpipe with 2 and 1/2 inch coupler, no water pick up rudder and 1 and 1/2 stand off, extended strut with no skeg, ordered the water pick up from [email protected] already! ]

That looks like a Dr. Buck's radio box. Wally used a Hammond waterproof electrical box in his, http://www.hammondmfg.com/1554FSLP.htm , part # 1554N2GYSL I'm guessing. I used an AC Model Boats slant top box but if I did it again would go with the Hammond or a Dr. Buck's. There was supposed to be a Hammond dealer near my house but when I called they were bought out and didn't carry them.

You might want to place the engine as far forward as possible to where you can still get to the recoil. I followed someone else's notes and mine appears to be an inch or so too far back. Hopefully the weight of the mount and extra 1/4 pound of the RCMK over a Zen will help.

Nothing wrong with .21 OB tunnels as I've had a few of those in my time. There's just something about being able to see under the boats at speed that I like, that's why I had to have a Cat.

It looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate with a 40% chance or rain and 20 MPH winds tomorrow so Walt called me about an hour ago, we're shooting for Sunday now.

Iknow Dale was making them , But i believe he stopped making them for awhile. I just sent Steve from SS a new flushmount , He's making me some.......you might want to contact him if you need one.

a "flushmount" is a water pickup that mounts flush with bottom of the hull, drill a hole and glue it in

We're not going to make it to the lake today as we've got a 30-40% chance of rain with 20 MPH winds so tomorrow is supposed ot be the big day now. Oh well, I've got a Lazer 45 that I'm trying to get done anyway so maybe I'll have 2 new boats to run Sunday.

Finally ran it today, not fast as we (Kevin Sheren, Walt Radzinski and Randy Crum) tinkered with settings and props. It was a busy day as my Lazer 45 hit the water for the first time also and that one was plagued with a lot of new boat problems.
Lousy video but here it is. I really gotta get me a better camera!

Very nice Drag Cat's!
As far as getting a Pro Cat, it's a huge mess right now. Only 6 have been made so far and as far as I know, mine is the only one that's seen water.
From what I've found out, Mike is in the middle of getting the Big D (divorce) and had to find a new place to live. He is supposed to have his operation up and going soon but still has a lot of orders to fill.
The other thing is that he had an agreement with PPB that he wouldn't sell his hulls on your side of the ocean, just the USA and Canada. I don't think that you'd be happy with the quality anyway. Mine had some chips, bad gel-coat and a few other problems that I and the owners of the rest of the 6 are trying to deal with.

Your boat is handling very well. If you have any setup tips on yours I'd like to hear them (pipe length, prop, etc.)!

Mine's been upgraded to the Jerotune pipe since that video. I took the boat out last Sunday to run it but didn't know until I got to the lake that my throttle servo went bad and didn't have a spare one with me.
