here ya go . take a look,
I am now building 10 complete units as i type..(ok my machine is doing it )
I am thinking the price is going to be around 2k ea. for the complete motor, lower, midsection, elec. ignition (the stock coil will not fit under the cowl.)
thanks

This thread is really HOTTING UP NOW
Turn my back for a minute - come back - and there are more Stunning boats - Stunning Outboard legs and Stunning builds on the way !
Thanks Cobus, all in all it was a great race weekend - I have to say - I have not seen anyone been dealt as much bad luck as you and Gerald were at the NATS. Well done for staying in the race. Your hull has definitely shown its potential and I for one really look forward to having some good races against it in the future. Lets not wait until next year.
We have some of the CMBC guys wanting to come racing in our coming Winter Champs ( your off season)- you are welcome to join us.
Machine Guy - for once I am "Speechless" your President should be proud of you. LOL That is more than a Masterpiece- its bordering on a mere miracle. I assume that the initial drive is belt driven, down to gears in the lower. Have you run the unit on a boat at all. I would understand that it is only possible to fit an inline motor due to the exhaust and carb required arrangement.
Please - tell us more.
Well to all "THE SCALE ENTHUSIASTS" You now have it ! It just cant get any better than that "A REAL HEARTY WELL DONE !

Cant wait to see what pops up next !
congratulations dominic for your good race results.
tell me more about the south african contest.
is it an only OTB gas class race? or a mixed class
where inboard and outboard run against another?
@ machine guy: did you test your OTB only in a barrel?
do you have a video, where it runs for a longer time on a boat?
it would be very interesting if you tell us more about the technical details.
beltdrive or bevel gear? does have the gearwheels a helical cut and they are
hardened? does the exhaust design any resonance effect to give me full performance?
you see questions over questions ;-)
best regards
ralf
Thanks for the kind words YPC.. I will post more info when I have time. Like is mentioned the one in the video Is the Proto type.
Hesco .
I don’t think you have enough lead to put in the boat to get the CG correct.. isn’t that what you said in the other forum ? So why do you post your comments,
I haven’t seen anything you have built yet ? I have A lot of time and money invested in this thing. so it would be nice if you have a bad comment keep it to yourself.
I don’t claim to be the fastest one on the water just a good looking one.
sorry just can’t stand getting bashed !!
We had 10 I/B F1's and 7 O/B F1's entered in our NATS. They ran in seperate heats as the O/B F1's is very much a purist class and deserve their own limelight. What a sight to see 7 F1's coming around bouy 5, queing for the start-line & then gassing it as the "RACE-ON" call comes! How they all make it around bouy 1 is probably 50% skill & 50% sheer bravery!
The I/B F1's was really an experiment that paid off big-time! 10 new boats entered in less than a year! These F1's are sometimes seen as just another CAT because they share the same hardware (sorry, except Dominic with his fancy steering prop strut), but you cant argue with the numbers.... Many boaters (including myself) want the looks and on-the-edge handling with-out the extra cost and complexity of the proper outboard motor. This I/B F1 class is definately here to stay...
we currently have 2 hulls running I/B set-ups, with a 3rd boat under development.
If i can convince a real outboard die-hard... Maybe a 4th... hint-hint wink-wink Cobus.
Not bashing in anyway. Your machining skills is fantastic and the scale look is brilliant. I'm a practical person and a racer (not scale builder). So the goods I have made are for racing. Most guys don't buy an outboard leg like the lawless because it costs +/-$450 and has issues with cable breakage. Dom has solved most of the problems and many guys in RSA run the leg succesfully and don't break as many cables as they used too and is affordable. The leg we make costs +/-$300 and work great although it in no way looks scale but as a racing piece of equipment it works and finishes races. The leg that Dom makes also works great and guys are talking good about it also not scale but finishes races. The hull we developed is running great and is very competitive being able to steer around 90 degree corners at near flat speeds.
Having setup and help setup a few F1 boats weight of the transom is always an issue. A lawless leg weights about 1.3kg, the new arrowshark leg is 1.1kg not sure of Dom's leg weight but I suspect it is in the 1kg range. Our leg is 780grams. In our 47" Dominator hul with the radio box nearly in the front we still had to ad about 350g of lead to get the cg right. I believe Dom and most of the guys with the Lawless has to sometimes ad up to a liter(1kg) of balast in the nose to get the boat to settle down in racing conditions.
Now looking at your leg and make now mistake I have my own engineering shop and your leg is a masterpiece of engineering as a scale looking leg, it is going to take a big boat or lots of lead to balans that boat. BTW I have a nice 54" F1 hull that your leg would look great on and she's a big girl (hence her name BIG BERTHA) so she'll handle the transom weight.
Cobus
Machine guy - as we all have expressed and frankly is undeniable " What you have managed to accomplish is "absolutely awesome" I dont think that any intentional bashing was intended by some of the remarks posted above. I can see the practical concerns that have been raised, but, as you say , YOU have invested the time and the money into this amazing project. I have no doubt that it will be well rewarded in due time.
I certainly am inspired to consider building a specific hull for that beautiful unit - lets see how further testing goes. When you can, I would like more details as to the overall weight and various measurements, so that some initial planning/design can be initiated to realize the potential of such a project.
It will certainly be in a class of its own. (I for one would want to be in that class)
Do you have a resolve to the Noise level without a tuned pipe - is the current muffler able to reduce the noise inadequately.
Initially, when the Gas F1 route started, I set out only to build the boat. As Cobus briefly shared, Cost and availability of the Imported legs became an apparent issue straining the growth, as well as the cable failures. I was therefore forced to seek to develop a outboard unit of our own to "Keep the Dream alive" afford ability was the main requirement- however- On a whole - there will always be a market for all things !
Lets continue to build this great class together !
Some basic specs on our products:
Millers legend F1 Hull weighs- 3,5kg's Including radio box - flotation and reinforcements - High gloss gel finish. Biaxial cloth vacuum molded Enigma outboard leg (complete)- 900g,s Stainless Steel
Wrap It outboard pipe and Stainless Manifold- 600 g's
Have a great weekend all
Kind regards

P.S. I have quite the story to tell about that hull, if anyone wants more info PM me.
To all that emailed me, I will try to keep you all posted on the progress of your outboards!
Thanks~
Wade
Cheers,
Dion.
Looking good there . You've done well to change the look and the add on parts can only make it run better. For gas OB, from my view, there isn't enough width to the hull to make her turn well at wot. Mind telling me the length and width of the whole hull. ?
Only test run will confirm my view. Would love to see the hull completed and video of the first run. Best of luck with the project.
