Smoother Waters
Great run with the boat tonight, tad wet but stable as granite. Second best speed I've seen with this hull, BJ55, 48 MPH. Water was like glass, not idea for a cat though. Motor wasn't revving out so I dropped the strut 2 mm and gained 6 mph. It was still wet and I could probably have gotten more out of it had I not run out of time and gas.
Made a big discovery in the lake recovering the boat once it was out of gas. There's a tree sticking up right to the surface, just short of breaking the water. I'd had the boat jump out of the water right about that spot and in fact lost a rudder that day. I suspect that's what I hit. I guess I need to go and tie a float to it next chance I get. It was at least 3 1/2 to 4" in diameter. Definitely a hull breaker.
Good day though bottom down the whole run!

RE: Smoother Waters
Knowing what I know now I would not have bought one. Great for a starter boat but if you're like me and enough is never enough then this hull is just not tough enough.
Had it out again tonight two tanks burnt and I didn't see the bottom of the hull once. A little slower tonight but I did have to deal with a swimmer.
I was running the boat and some girl comes over and asks about the boat, she's in a bathing suit which given I was at the lake did not seem odd.
After asking about the boat and telling me her brother would love it she starts swimming straight out.
What the hell?
This is not the first time this has happened. There's plenty of place to swim here so it's not like it was a crowding issue. A couple of weekends ago some woman comes up and asks the usual questions. Next thing I know she's throwing her dog's ball out for him to fetch. Right where I'm running?
Still a good night though. My wife tells me that I was being videoed. Apparently it was sooo fast!

RE: Smoother Waters
Glad you had a couple of good outtings. Got to run my BJ55 this weekend aslo. I did not gps the boat but it was running real good. There was a slight chop (4" - 6") due to the wind blowing about 5 mph, but the boat loved the chop and head wind. All in all it was a good weekend bought the boat home in one place and still running.
