This a hull that I designed in 2001 for the enthusiest who wanted a classic scale look with the strength required for twin engines. This is the famous 36' Cigarette flat deck hull that Don Aronow built and raced in the 70s. This model hull also meets the APBA Supeboat class rules. The price is $700 US FOB Evergreen, Colorado. I have always shipped these via Forward Air trucking in a custom made plywood crate. There is just no suitable cardboard packaging for a hull this large. The shipping was about $100 in the US, and the crating charge was $60 just to cover the cost of materials. The last one that I shipped a year ago went via FedEx ground to Florida with safe delivery. The boat pictued is all carbon fiber, but this is not necessary for strength, and just adds $250 to the cost for materials. This hull has twin full mod Zenoahs from Midwest engines in Kansas with the Merc #6 outdrives from MHZ. The transom is slanted as in the full size hull, but I have molded in a vertical pad for mounting drives and hardware. Thunder Pro in NJ was my retail outlet until the unfortunate death of the owner. I have shipped these all over the US and to New Zealand!

The drives are on the market from MHZ-USA. Check their web site. I am not sure if Midwest Engines are still around. I bought these engines in 2002 to cmpare them to other offerings. Here is a picture of the engines in the hull. The tuned pipes are not installed in the picture. Sorry that the detail is somewhat lacking. Bob N.

Hello there fine sir. I just joined rcuniverse tonight and glad to see you on. I dont know if you remember me but I have one of your boats..I was in Michigan but now in Florida still with the boat. It has the 60 Zenoah and Ballentine hardware. Still have not used it, saving it for my son. Peoples jaw still drop when they see that thing..how many have you sold now?

elramone, I wondered where you disappeared to. I am glad that you still have the Cigarette. I sold about 24 hulls, and decided that big boats are just too expensive for most modelers espeicially in this lousy economy. My sole retail distributor, Rich of Thunder Pro in New Jersey, died in 2008. Most modelers just have no comprehension of the costs associated with designing and building these hulls. I never got to the point of breaking even on these hulls, and still laugh at people that think they should be inexpensive. Business is not a charity! I still have the molds, and I have made a few hulls for some large boat enthusiasts in the last year. This forum seems to be for the entry level boater with hulls under 55" which is great as the hobby needs to foster some new members if it is to survive. There are some great manufacturers, especially Warehouse Hobbies, that make some really neat products for this segment. I will always respond to the boater that wants something a little different, but I do not expect it to develop into a profitable business. When the finished boat costs about $3,000 with drives and engines, then one is looking at a niche market! Send me some pictures of your hull at [email protected]. bmwmick, the outer strakes ( closest to the chines) run all the way to the transom and have a slight amount of hook at the rear to get the hull up on plane quickly. There is no hook built into the hull bottom though. The inner strakes end about 40% forward of the transom and they are straight. . The configuration is the same as a full size deep vee and works as planned. I have a full size 35 foot Cigarette that is a descendant of the 36 foot flatdeck from the seventies, and the bottom configuration is the same. Thanks for the question, and I will try and get some bottom detail pictures posted for you. My youngest son, 22 years old, has his '95 BMW M3 that he is prepping to race on some track somewhere I hope. Thanks. Bob N.

i'm very familiar with lakeshore. my parents live on archer and have property on south river at the end of lakeshore on the clinton river. that where we typically run our boats. every sunday there's a group that runs at captains landing in mt clemens too.

Too cool....well..Im only running a prather now with a weed wacher motor. The big boat has never been run, but I am getting ready to do it. I have just been saving it for my sons who are still young. I want to outfit it with the MHZ speedmasters and the hull builder recommends a gearbox for using my single motor to run both drives. The motor is an absolute monster in it. I have been hanging in Florida lately flying model planes butwould love to meet some new folks. We probably have a lot of friends in common if you hang out around Huron Shores Sub. I have talked to a few people about manufacturing my hull, but have decided to possibly resume production myself. The hull will be the exact same design as before in my original molds, but will be epoxy fiberglass with a Duretec gray primer outer surface ready for paint of your choice. I have made this change to save weight and not compromise strength knowing that electric power may be the option preferred by many. My goal is a bare hull weight of 12 pounds. The hull will be $800 as a special introductory price. Shipping via FedEx ground will be approximately $200 in the lower 48 states. Motor mounts will not be included as there are too many power options now, but I have motor mount rails available for single or twin gas engines. Hulls will be made to order with a $200 deposit required, and lead times will be three weeks or less. Shipping times should be 4-5 days. Let me know if you have any interest. Thanks. Bob Newman.
