EASY VEE BUILD *NEED MORE HELP* (almost done bare with me)
Hey guys, I'm building the easy vee by zippkits with a Zen G260.. It's my first build as many of you know.. I'm having a little trouble so I decided to make a thread. I put the stringers on fine but the side panels caused me a problem.. I didn't put them far enoguh towards the front of the bow so the point of the bow is messed up. Because of this, the bottom panels don't fit well at all... to make them fit the bow well I have to let it overhang on the transom however then the curves of the side panels don't fit flush at all with the bottom... if Imove it forward the tip is wayy to big and I don't know how I should trim the tip. Either way they are to wide for some reason. I have done a little bit more from the pictures though.. I glued on the transom and a touched up a few places. (Iincluded the stand and radio box I made) I realize the easy vee is supposed to be a easy build however I'm just a kid and Imessed up so please help me fix this problem and please refrain from saying, "You blew it. Buy another kit and restart, kid."
Thanks for the help

Hi m8..
It kinda seems you buggered up the bottom stingers when you glued them to the tip of the bow.. (maybe you missed that bit in the book ???)
I think thats the reason you are having trouble, The rest of the boat seems ok, maybe all is not lost.. looking at the pics I think the only trouble you will have is the bow and what shape it will turn out like, I would suggest you keep going with it as to try and pull it apart to try and fix it will most likely result in you doing some kind of damage to the boat..
Henry..

Hey Stacked,
The man who designed and sells this kit is on this forum, his name is Joe Petro. He is the owner of Zippkits and would be the best source for information on your build. I would contact him first and see what advice he has to offer. Your progress looks good so far, just be patient and make sure you are following the instructions to the letter, you will be fine.

Ifigured out how Ican fix it.. I forgot to sand the stringers and side panels down flush with the transom.. It will make the bottom panels fit better.. I will just get creative with fixing the point of the bow.. me and joe are good ol' friends.. haha Iemail him with questions all the time

Yea, I know I didn't post in a while you may have thought I ditched it.. I was actually at home shaking in my bed with excitement waiting on the stuff to come in the mail. I used a palm sander and did a ton of sanding till it all fit... I'm too lazy to take more pictures right now but the bottom sheets are on and setting overnight.. I have some overhang on the sides and back.. I will sand it all smooth and for the tip I think I will add alot of epoxy like you said and then I will sand it alot to make it fit.. I will have a blunter tip but it will still look nice.. Will post more pictures after I sand it up and cut it off the jig. Oh yea can I go ahead and glue the strakes on after I sand it? in the booklet it has the strakes added on at like the very last step.. And how much of a difference do they make just wondering?
Thanks guys keepin ya posted

that's the reason I decided against building a kit boat..... too easy to bugger it up if you misunderstand something in the instructions.

Hi Stacked if you have used Epoxy in your Boat use Epoxy with the Glass. Polyester Resin and Epoxy Resin are not fully Compatible with each other and they will not Bond Completely to each other. you are doing a good Job keep up the good work. Doug.

I fiberglassed the inside seam today and finished coating inside with epoxy. Then I cut the pool noodles to fit and I glued the two top deck pieces together. Later tonight or in the morning I will glue top deck on and windshield.. then all I gotta do is add everything in.. which will be the hard part for me.. Iwill need you guys to help me ( there are like 10 little things I don't even know what they are...(clevises...control rod.. linkage.. stuff something something idk idk)) anyway hopefully I'll get the deck on today.

One thing to check is that your edges are sharp. You don't want the chines rounded off or the boat won't handle well in turns. Make sure the chines & transom are sanded to a sharp edge, the keel doesn't matter as much.

hey guys I got the top deck on.... looks great! I will put pics tomorrow.. was wondering how to fill the really small cracks where the side and top panels meet? epoxy? something else? they are small but I think they need filling... also some questions about paint...I bought some "Model Masters turquoise metallic enamel" spray paint... will this look shiny like automobile paint or will it at least look good? I also bought a clear coat to spray over it its called a clear gloss coat.. anyway.. thats it
