I know that this might sound really stupid.

How can you tell the diferance in gas and nitro pipes? Do they interchange? I saw a pipe for sale but it did not say if it was for nitro or gas. I just want to be educated a bit before spending any cash.

Not really. The problem is the intake and exhaust sides and their sizes plus the volume that he pipes need to do their job.
If you don't know what it is and neither does the owner, I'd pass.
