Cats and inlines are a tough combo...

I have seen a couple builds with the PPB Skater and inline Zenny that looked way cool.

would a mono be a better choice? if so, what would you suggest?

Well. it is really a matter of opinion there, for sure.

I think there is more "volume" available for motors, and the stuff in a mono helping simplify the build but there are some cat hulls that might work. I prefer a mono over a cat, but that is ONLY me.

I have note seen it done yet, but an Expresscraft MIT might have the space for an inline?

If you want to go with the cat, you will not find a better built and laid-up boat than the PPB. They are top notch, expensive but of the highest quality.

On the mono side, one of the bigger Apaches (AM, MHZ, etc) sure has the room. Maybe one of the GTX (either Expressraft or MHZ), or one of the coolest looking scale Mono's I have seen in person is the MHZ Skater Mono. A friend is building one here now with an inline Zen, WD200 Gear Box and pair of drives counter rotating very scale build to suit the style of the hull.

I think JAW or Apache48 may have a Expresscraft GTX with an inline Zen and a single MHZ S6 drive. It was a neat boat!

I think the fun of the hobby is finding a solution to a "problem." Just because is hasn't been done before doesn't mean it can't be done. A ton of people told me I was crazy to do the Dumas Scarab Resto from subsurface to surface but I ended up having a TON of fun and learning some new hobby skills in the process. It certainly doesn't hurt that the boat runs pretty well and my buddy made it look pretty with a neat paint job.

I hope others chime in...it could be a very cool project!

Here are some pix of a PPB with inline...sweet build. I hope the original builder doesn't mind me posting his pix. I saw it a while back and put them into a "what-if" file...

The Expresscraft MTI does have the room for an inline. I've seen one in person and it is a cool setup. For the price it would be a good option. If you do a search on here or jrcbd you should find some info on one.

I think the 72" Skater was designed to have a motor in each sponson. Not sure if an inline would fit without hacking up the cowl.

Man-O-Man...I remember seeing that MTI. Sweet boat. I bet with teh extra weight of the twins it handles the chop nicely. Nice build and fun boat.

I'm with Illiniboater on the ClassONE...I believe Tom designed it to have a motor in each sponson and not an inline on the tunnel...you might have to do some hacking and the CG may get thrown off quite a bit with that much weight up on the tunnel...Tom may chime in?

Sounds like MTI is a nice trick on this side of the pond.

Cheers guys, the pics dont do the paint job justice, awesome metal flake, incredable in the sunshine.
great handling hulls, only ran it twice, going tomorrow to give it a real blast and can spend some time dialing it in.
a bit of video from last sunday,25-30mph winds, some whizzing round with a pals inline makara and my son with his white mono.
Still brand new motors so only a few short bursts.
I'll get some more video tomorrow.
