Another few shots of Craigs excellent pump unit and a better view of the alternate intake profile used, a nacelle style drop box ...

Here a few pictures of my first build using one of Craigs pumps.
Yes we have positive and negative trim, Grate size & Nozzle size fixed.

I understand what you are saying. I really don't know anything about the style jetboats you guys are building. I have only messed with 1/4 mile drag racing and playing round on the local lakes. I would have to guess that if you are having to much intake pressure with the setup you are running, the inlet must be much bigger then us drag racer run? Do you now how much intake psi you have and how much is to much? Also have you tried any pump mods to flow more water thus relieving inlet psi? Do the make pumps with more/less vanes? Can you change the nozzle size? Can you change the intake hole size? Can you trim the nozzle up/down?

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Just done as Play Boat for time when out in the river with the BIG boat and my racing boats are just not right to play with.
Started out with a Zenoah 260 for power, then being a Racer and having engines around with MORE ... Put in a Quickdraw 25, that was fun but very high dollar overkill !!

Good looking boat. I would love to have a jet tunnel hull someday. How fast are these boats with a modded motor? Do you race them anywhere?

I'll keep that in mind . I can't take on anymore projects right now . It may be awhile before I decide on the tunnel hull . I thought there was a member here already working on a tunnel hull ? I'll do a search .

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Gday Dana
Looks really good !
Allthough you should probably end the end 2 strakes just behind the first, like leading back on a 30 deg angle
Reason being, you do not want to generate any lift in the stern which will unsettle the boat and make it hard to trim
But other than that, looks really good !
I hope you used a vinyl ester paint on the plug, cause that styrene will attack anything else and you won't get the plug out !
Ooh yeah, sorry i'm not making jets anymore.
Regards Craig

OK that's easy enough to change . Thanks Craig .
No I don't use a vinyl ester paint on my plugs . I've been pulling molds off plugs for years and I'm not about to change how I do things in that department . What's the old saying ? " If it ain't broke , don't fix it "

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Dana,
Question for you .... What is the intake grate / mounting flat within hulls floor for actual pump mounting ?
Being I do have a Swashdrive unit, was needing to make sure your hull has sufficient area for this pump to get mounted correctly.
