Hmm, teh transom is not square from port to starboard or top to bottom. It can be done, but it will take some pretty extensive f/g work to get transom straight or square from the runnning surface all the way to the deck to mount the drives.

I did see a PPB Skater on one of the European forums that had a pair of WD200 steerable struts (the smaller ones) onthe back with a pair of twins and dummy hydraulics...it looked AWESOME I must say. I am not sure if I have pictures of that one.

The Skater that Gizmo sells is NOT a PPB Skater. It is a Central IL Hobbies boat and a gentleman names Rick is the owner of the company. I got to see a couple of those hulls in person at the RC Mini Shootout here last month. Rick is a very nice guy and I was impressed with his hulls. Not a PPB but a very nice boat. The transom on that one is close to the PPB and because of that it is not square all the way across and will also need some work.

Look at a couple of the pictures of the hardware on the PPB, see the center section where the rudder an strut are mounted? Then, it drops down at angle from there to the back of the sponsons at the very transom...that angle is no good for S6. However, the MHZ Z-Drives are a little shorter than the S6 drives. That might help things?

Hah! I hear ya! Tom is actually building hull #2 with S6 and CR J&G Hemi V2's on RCMK RX bottem ends. Peter has just gotten it running in the last couple of weeks and I hear it is doing in the mid-hi 60's range right off the bench!!! That would be a cool boat!!!

Shoot me an e-mail...I am sure I have pictures some place from the scale boat forum of it...cool boat!

Just getting the thread up to date...been doing some tuning and testing and having blast!!! So far teh boat really seems to like the ABC 2716-2 in 10* and 15* rake. It was fastest so far (63MPH Radar) with a 2716-2 10* Rake, star tips, and a slight barr cut. I really ganked up one of the blades on that prop running it on Sat...I must have hit a turtle I suppose. Anyhoo, it needs some rework to get the shape back and the cup in the blade at the leading edge.;(

anyways, having fun dialing this thing in!!! I am amazed how well it gets a "set" and just runs on her rear-end.

Yah, up Nort, EH? Sorry, couldn't resist. LOL

It's frienken cold up there in the winters...good to be south a little. I think they have some snow in our forecast in a few days first of the year...won't be the last for sure. It can be 20*F one day and 60*F the next here in MO...Midwest weather is all over the place. Last winter the Lake froze-over for the first time in around 50 years I was told by some old-timers here...it was 10-12" thick on the MAIN CHANNEL up by the Dam all the way to the 30MM plus. NUTS! We actually had days the HI didn't get over 5*F which is out of control for this area...I read in a farmer's almanac that the world is on 30-40 cycle of cooling and warming trends and we just started a cooling cycle again...I am almost 35 and I remember having some major snow and cold as a very young kid so that would be about right...then heard it on the news some place a few months back.

We'll see.

little update on some heat concerns...when I made the engine mounts they turned out a bit taller than I thought and it has the steel exhaust header REALLY close to the underside of the hatch...these PPB boats being epoxy I was a bit concerned with that and the plan to put some paint on her down the road so I looked into some heat shields.

I stumbled into this ceramic heat paint from BVMJets.com and am REALLY pleased. So pleased in fact I am going to be using this stuff on all my boats that I run the pipe under the hatch!!!

Basically prepped the hatch like you would for laminating. Scuff it up with 80 grit, cleaned off and degreased with alcohol or acetone, and tack off with a rag...then used one liberal coat of the paint and let get tacky, had a pre-cut piece of 6 oz fiberglass cloth and pre-soaked in the ceramic paint using a fair bit of pressure to make sure it saturated it all the way through both sides, put in place and let get tacky, and then brushed on a third VERY liberal coat of the paint over the cloth. all-in-all it is around 1/8" thick after it cured/dried.

When running two 500ml bags of fuel back to back at 60-63mph consistently for roughly 10 minutes each bag the hatch is COOL to the touch after bringing the boat in!!! LOVE this stuff!!!
