Pipe proplems
While putting together my pipe and header I believe I ripped my viton orings I only noticed after I noticed water coming out of the stinger of the pipe while running the boat. These rings were in the pipes water jacket. I had a real hard time mating my 25 degree rear exhaust header with my Zippkits 1" band pipe. I replaced the rings with some orange silicone ones and put the water jacket under running water in the sink, then I tipped the pipe to find a small bead of water drip out. The green Viton rings seat the best in the water jacket but I'm afraid of chewing up another set and the orange ones don't seat as well but I don't think they'll provide a good seal. Anyone know what I can do?

Hi Byron! All good advice above! Lastly and most important. never ever ever ever bend the pipe to meet the pipe support! Let the pipe fall where it falls and MAKE the pipe support meet the pipe wherever it falls. If you tweek the pipe one way or another, your O rings will leak![X(] Good luck, Brian

RE: Pipe proplems
I had the same problem installing a freshly cut header a few months back. Whipped out the dremel and then smoothed the cut header with some sand paper. Get it to the point where the end doesn't feel like it is cutting into the rings when installing. Grease does help and I twist the pipe on slowly.
Another thing, before I run the boat, I pressure test the seal by putting some tubing on one nipple and putting my thumb over the other nipple. Then I lightly blow through the tubing to see if there is a leak. Don't blow hard though.
Hope this helps.

RE: Pipe proplems
Well I just dropped $85 bucks on a Hanson pipe.[:@] I figure it's an improvement anyways. I imagine the better quality pipe will fit my header better.
