ONLY way to go ... QD-Pioneer or CMB-27Alpha , if it's used for racing.

For fun , RCMK-254Evo , or a mild tuned Zenoah , CCracing or Gizmo are a good source.

Decent racing engines have a liner.

So QD-pioneer_27 or CMB-27Alpha would be my choice.

Another option is to ask Bruce from Gizmomotors.com to make you a
J&G_V3 top-end kit on a RCMK SX billet carter.

Hello again, now I have a little questions about QD-HT HIGH TORQUE motor and what their advantages and disadvantages, it is certainly the older engine 25 cc and it does not deliver quite as much power as the new PIONEER engine of 27 cc!

Why not get a 26cc Zen with a 1mm stroker crank...Good Reliable Power.

hogdog1995 01-01-2014 05:14 PM

can anybody tell were on this site were they talk about chain saw conversion in rc boats

Jack .. he's going to race FSR-O in Sweden , choppy lakes overthere .. needing big(ger) hulls , and tough competition.

To stand a chance , his only option is to use what the others use ... QD_Pioneer/QD_Pioneer-Pro.

If trying to win is not your goal , the 'new' Tiger King engine seems promissing for 'the average boater' .

martno1fan 01-03-2014 04:12 AM

Dave is now offering the tiger kings modded so that might also be another option, certainly a lot cheaper than the pioneer if price is an issue.

Ron Olson 01-03-2014 08:08 AM

Price is a huge factor in your decision. Quick-Draw if you have the money but it really isn't that bad if it includes the exhaust system which can run $200.00 American by itself.
Other engines are personal preferences as each one has their little issues. Zenoah lovers really don't like to talk about bent crankshafts coming right from the factory which led up to the Blue Crank Blues. RCMK's are strong engines but have their bug-a-boo's also with a weak ignition system unles the spark plug gap is closed down to .16". With whatever your choice is, invest in an EZ start pull-starter as it's one investment that you won't regret. The ones from Zenoah or Zippkits have been the best for me, Gizmo's on his Rev-Unlimiteds are the worst.
Hendrick mentioned the CMB 27. I don't know if the issue with them has been fixed yet but early versions required a square drive cable setup and the engine couldn't take the pressure on the bearings of a regular collet drive. You have lots of options out there. The Tiger King is relatively new here in the US market, sometimes hard to get right now with the demand for them.

Hi Jack
Quickdraw are by far the best engines ( I own 2 myself) but sorry to say if you damage a QD motor you will have to return it to the USA to be repaired as far as I am aware they do not sell spares, ( if they do they don't state it on there web page)
if you hydro one of these motors you are really going to pay to get it repaired be warned.
Bob.

Newb, do a search but chainsaw engines are a bad idea in a boat. Too heavy, not enough RPM, difficult to mount and last but not least, the engines rotate in the wrong direction. Just because you might have one laying around that you'd like to use doesn't mean that it would be a good candidate for a boat,

I buy going to "Parts" figuring out what I needed then just email Paula at QD - she sends me back a cost and choices of shipping.

The new Tiger King is a real player! I have been running two of them for three months, One has over 12 galions of gas at rpm as 18,600 Very high quality piece!

Alan ... we put TK cylinders on a K600 case ... now that's a monster engine :-)

Gizmo gz4 is the best

rotordog 01-29-2014 08:36 PM

gizmo full mod motors are pretty good. My preference is a Zenoah 4-bolt PUM motor any day. I have been porting for many years and I prefer to build my own. RCMK motors are quite good as well and have nice thick super hard plating unlike any Chung Yang motor. Anything with a stroker crank wether it be +1mm or +2mm is gonna reduce peak rpm. If your not running long straights this is fine but if your running flat out don't run a stroker crank. It's not hard to pull 17K rpm under load from a 26cc Zenoah or rcmk. If your gonna be running more in the mid range of the rpm I would recommend a cylinder reed motor. Gizmo does reeded motors and so do I. You can look me up on BilletBoard as TheDog or Facebook as Chris Custom Scooters. My stuff is right on par with Gizmo and I build more power than OBR
