Just added a new boat to my collection , found this Expresscraft MTI for a great deal on eBay , runs great but I plan to step up the power in the future...

Not sure but it looks to be a CY/RCMK 26cc (F-263 on the pull start) 5.5 HP motor , the guy I bought it from said it was a 29cc motor but I don't think he really knew . It's a new motor not broken in and it still went 44 mph with an of the shelf Prather 275 prop. Think a single 8-9 HP motor would be perfect for a boat this size or an inline setup let me know what you think to get it in the 60mph zone...

Nice purchase. I have a slightly used Hellbent 30.5 cc engine that would be perfect for that boat. Andrew O'Neil (New Zealand) did all the modifications on the engine, it's a real power house. I ran it for 1 race in LA and a couple times for testing. I guarantee it to be in primo condition. It's 475.00 shipped. Send me a email at [email protected] so you can see pics. Can't attach here for some reason.

Believe you have a Sikk motor - Think they were 27.5cc. Made a little more power (stock) than a stock zenoah but had some teething issues in the early days of production. Dont see many around these days. They were quite a decent power plant though.

How do you think a QuickDraw pioneer motor would push this boat , I've been considering one...

Justaddwata 01-30-2017 05:48 PM

would do a good job of it. She is a big boat though that motor does pack some punch - you will certainly see a difference.

SUPER-V 01-30-2017 08:03 PM

I have a (spare) redline pro mod 29.5 cc I will try first to see how that works then go from there , thanks for the input...

I just put a Pro Mod 32cc I got from Doug at BH Hanson in my 58" Fountain and it really moves. This motor would get you where you want to be MPH wise. Give BH Hanson a call.

SUPER-V 02-02-2017 09:56 PM

Thanks I'll check it out...

expresscraft 09-14-2017 11:12 AM

Did you ever get the QD motor?

SUPER-V 10-06-2017 02:46 PM

No never did , it's either going to be the Redline pro mod I already have or one of those RCMK / K30 SX 29.5cc motors they have decent HP stock...

The 29 will be fine, that boat has a big wing and lifts very easy out of the water and flies, Like most cats, she is not hard to make go fast, it's the balance that needs to be right, 33-35 % cg, strut up 3/8" from bottom of ride pads to center of flex cable. 1 degree of negative on the bow to push the bow down, not up like a deep v. The goal is to pack air under the hull till she flies, and she will with your red line motor. You want her to fly straight and level, Right hand rid pad in the water from engine torque. prop tips and rudder tips in the water, everything else out of the water and you have her dialed in, if she is bow up like all cats, she is going over.backwards. The MTI is a great running boat, you should see 60 MPH as your goal. You are in Miami, see if Octavio (CP mods) will put one of his modified QD's in there for fun she will go faster then 60MPH

Awsome thanks for all the great tips...

expresscraft 10-07-2017 09:21 AM

Post right here and lets talk boats, I will do all I can to help you get her on the water.

SUPER-V 04-13-2021 12:42 PM

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...81c4a0ada8.png Zippkits version 3 quiet pipe, & Gizmotors clutch got 55 MPH out of it so far and she's running like a top I really love the scale and performance of this boat on the water. My future plans are for the slightly bigger J&G 30 plus Pro Mod with the 29.5mm crank or the Redline Zenoah Pro Mod 31.8cc motor and then i'll swap this motor into my Aeromarine Conquest Cat...

Justaddwata 04-16-2021 12:43 AM

Nicely done!! Looks good!

SUPER-V 04-16-2021 09:34 AM

Thanks...

Nice looking and running boat Super-V. I have an MTI with the Gizmo 30+ and I love it. 60+ mph all day long as long as it doesn't blow over.

SUPER-V 05-05-2021 01:25 PM

For sure these are nice hulls and I love the bigger scale of the boat on the water, I'm about to try a different prop I think might improve on the MPH. Its also nice to be able to run a single engine with the higher HP they're making in this big boat and still get decent speeds...

SUPER-V 05-10-2021 09:20 AM

Speed update: 60 MPH @16,600 RPM with a different ABC prop, I'm impressed with how this boat rides, handles and stays perfectly trimmed at speed...
