good dependable rc setup for a 50 on gas boat
 

Any one know a good dependable rc setup for a 50 on gas boat.I currently have a spectrum set up,which is not my favorite
I put it​​​​​​ together all set to go,an low and behold it all stopped.This went on for a while,even bought a new reciever which acted up also
I'm done with spectrum ,anything out the thats reasonable and dependable. Thanks in advance,Bob

Make sure that you're using a receiver made for boats. the older ones have an MR on them, MR-200 and MR-300. I've got 2 Spektrum's collecting dust and when they worked they were just as good as any other radio system. One seems to have a weak circuit board which may have cracked.
I've been running some Ikonnix radios from Hobbytown USA which are pretty nice for the money. Otherwise go for a low-dollar Futaba if you're on a budget.

Definitely Futaba. If you want a good radio that is usable for more than one boat, I'd recomment the 4PLS as it's what I have. My reasons for this are:
1) It's only $180 through Tower Hobbies
2) It has the capability to have 40 vehicles programmed in at one time
3) It's a 2.4GHZ using the T-FHSS system, though it can also be used with S-FHSS and FHSS receivers(check to make sure the receiver in question is compatible before buying other than the included R304SB)
4) It has on-board telemetry so, unless you change the display(easy to do when desired), it will show both transmitter and receiver battery voltages
5) Additional receivers are generally less expensive than the comparable FASST receivers
6) You can use pretty much any type of battery pack to power the transmitter, including LiFe packs(which is what I use in mine)
7) It has the ability to let you change servo movement end points as well as rotational speeds, something that can be advantageous to boat handling and control
8) If you need more information, you can add RPM, temperature and on-board battery pack voltage sensors to go along with the integrated receiver voltage feature
