Pro Boat 1/8 Formula Hydro
I just picked up one at a shop this evening. Are there any setup,or adjustments that need to be made before the first run? I picked up a quart of Klotz to mix with the gas,and I also noticed that Horizon is out of props for this boat. Are there any good replacments for this boat? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Use the search at the bottom of the page. For instance, I typed in Miss Budweiser and got this:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_55...tm.htm#5511158 It's basically the same boat so any threads on the Bud or LLumar will help. |
RE: Pro Boat 1/8 Formula Hydro
I have to agree with Ron, check out some of the threads on the Bud, Llumar and Elam. I will tell you right off the bat that you need to rebalance the boat as it's masively tail heavy. It should balance about an inch behind the sponsons, not the 5+ that it probably does now. One other thing, DO NOT TRY TO SUPPORT THE REAR BY MOVING THE WING AS THIS DOES NOT WORK. USE THE WING TO FINE TUNE THE RIDE

Ran ours last week, when it comes onto plane it would hook to the right.Found out to be the turn fin was not straight and acting as a rudder! Adjusted as required, now ok.

Here's another thread you might find helpful... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_49...tm.htm#4900779 , I would also recommend shimming the strut,(just to start with), ... and another http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_63...tm.htm#6378471

RE: Pro Boat 1/8 Formula Hydro
Well,Horizon had me return the Formula Hydro to the dealers, and exchange it for another one. This one actually runs!:) Well most all of the time![:o] The boat goes like a Bat out of &%^$#,UNTIL you turn right! Then it just dies? We ran it 14 times yesterday, and after easing it out onto the course, and slowly building up speed around turns 3-4,then blasting it down the front streach,it runs fine. Then entering into turn 1 it runs fine,UNTIL you round the start of turn 2.Then, just shuts off like you hit the kill switch! It did this 14 times in a row![:@] If you placed a marker in the turn, and it would die in the exact same spot every time.[:o] At first we thought it might be a fuel issue, but the priming blub is full as well as the fuel line. Then we thought the fail safe was shutting the motor down, from the 2 servos, drawing too much power from the reciever pack, (1600Mah located in the cockpit of the boat). This boat is wearing me out![:o] The first boat had the header bent wrong, and sprayed water into the engine compartment, from the tuned pipe coupling. Raised the tuned pipe, and new Orings to seal that up,but the motor ran lean no matter what setting you used on the needles. This boat (#2)came out of the box with the left rear upright finn cracked and chipped, and someone tried to cover it up with paint, and the left rear of the hull cracked, but runs great (as long as your going straight),but dies in the turn! I'm runnig out of ideas on what to do. I thought that TODAY I might try to run it without the fail safe in and see if that's what's killing the engine in the turns, (I'm running out of ideas). Ron

Ron,
you didn't tell us whats in it for radio? I would not be surprised that it is the fail safe shutting down the boat and not for lack of power but for momentarily loss of signal. Dan. |
RE: Pro Boat 1/8 Formula Hydro
Right now I'm running an old JR XR-3 that has little time on it. When I pulled the plug after bringing it in I found that it was lean. When searching the forum sites I tried to find neighborhood settings for it and of couse found at least a half-dozen settings so I kind of averaged all of those out.
These are what I found for the WT-771: Low High 1-1/8 1-5/8 1-3/4 1-1/4 1-1/4 1 1-1/2 1-1/2 1-1/4 1-1/4 |
