Dana .. contact Peter Hawkins about which hull from your own stable to use , add a delta on the keel ,
re-build one of your deck-molds to a more jet-boat-style .. and you'll have a winner. Only rival on the USA market is the MHZ-jetsprint .. I'm sure you can beat their pricing , and i can vouch your laminating skills. I recomment using this deck ... making the opening more to front , and a nice wide rim for attaching a windowscreen. |
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Thanks guys . I just started a build design today . I'll post some photo's in a few weeks . I was thinking 34" in length . What's your opinion on that ?
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Thanks Hendrick but I was more interested in designing a new jet sprint boat .

excellent work on BOTH boats. I grew up having jet boats and it is something you'll always have a craving for once you own one!! what kind of speeds are these puppies gettin with a stock 26? You loose a lot of speed with a real jet pump over a prop...less efficiant. just wondering...
what about a catamaran with a center pod for the pump?? I used to own one that was 19' with a BBC. I'd like to find something like that http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif anyone make a hull like that? here's a pic of DOCKMAN's boat!! Dana,
Looks as if that is a Plug for building a mold ? If you produce them, would be VERY interested in one for my Swashdrive pump ;) |
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Hi guys
I am also building a plug for molding a sprint hull. just wish i could work as fast as what Dana is. just noticed the shot of the rear of the hull still has a v keel. you prob know this but the pump will require a flat delta keel. cheers steve |

Heres a couple of pics of mine also showing my delta keel
just got to do the final sand and start polishing cheers steve |
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Thanks for sharing . Nice job . Yes I realize the pump requires a delta keel for the intake but I thought I'd make the V hull first then shave the back for the delta keel . Then add the strakes . Thanks for your input though .
Yes Scott this is only the plug . Hope to be molding very soon . |

Got her roughed in . I covered the foam with 1/8th ply . The front area I added green foam and covered it with fiberglass cloth and resin . While that was curing I covered it with a mixture of resin , cab-a-sil & 3m glass bubbles .

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
looking good ya will have it done in no time

yep , it's getting there . Fine tuning the bottom before cutting in the delta keel .
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
i like it :D
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Nice work Dan
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Just a little squirt ... :D
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Dana ... as it is a jet-boat .... please considder adding deep and steep-angled sprayrails.
(there's no rudder or strut to prevent 'sliding' in de corners) 3/16"deep strakes would not hurt either. (directs more water to the delta , and will also help against the 'sliding') a 1/3 (straight)keellength delta would do fine (IMHO), allthough a 1/4 (straight)keellength could work also. |
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
OK , thanks for your advise HendricX .

RE: Gas Jet Boaters

If theres any other angles you want let me know and ill dig some up. cheers steve |
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Do you have a pic of the base of the new Stingray hull? That is one fast & well handling hull! Pitty all the hull shots are in crashes, but hey, that's racing.
|
RE: Gas Jet Boaters
OH YEAH , you did good . Thanks for the photo's .

Cut in the delta keel .

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
on drag racing jets, there would be a small bubble placed in front of the suction hole to load the pump with water...problem is bubble size and how far in front of the hole...test,test and more testing http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif
