Looks great. Too bad it is not sitting on a real Gas Outboard.

Hi Cobus,
I totally agree with you, but I promise not to start again with the 'F1 IB' thing!;);)

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and safe n Happy New Year!!

Looking good chris
i think you done a real good job overall on the whole build

F1roddo 12-23-2013 05:09 AM

Thanks Daz, pretty happy with how they turned out. Looking forward to getting it back on the water in the new year.

I'm watching your build with interest too, its coming along nicely, hull and engine cowl.

Cheers

hi guys
i got hold of a ypc f1 hull and my idea was to finish the projeck as a f1 outboard. due to the cost of all required parts to achieve that, the funding was not there, so i change my mind and started to build a f1 inboard. i will post pictures as i proceed.
thanks
john

fokket, avbob got more life than this thread!

Hesco Racing 01-24-2014 11:24 AM

No Johno there is just not so much interest in a inboard tunnel. Specially from USA who mostly frequent this site. Put a leg on the thing and run it like it was made to be.

F1TUNNEL 01-24-2014 02:58 PM

Lots happening now on Facebook ;) 1/4 scale outboards and rc waterworld are fairly active

Hesco Racing 01-24-2014 08:48 PM

You have links to it?

F1madness 01-26-2014 04:15 PM

Nothing wrong with ib tunnels it all comes down to cost and here in UK we can't race Ob's due to health and safety of uncovered exhaust so ib is best way to go for me, maybe 1 day funds will allow steerable drive but till then it will stay as it is
Keep posting wet a wild and enjoy it ;)

ok guys run my inboard this weekend and what a joy. yes i have a few gremlins to sort out but otherwise this hull show great ability in strong wind and big chop

Hesco Racing 02-02-2014 09:07 PM

And those gremlins gave you 4 DNF's so you better get them sorted. And added to your 18 DNF's out of 24 heats run this season so far. Speed has not been your friend this season so far.

Howzit John 'rock n rolling milkman'- great to see what you have done with that old F1 outboard hull - well done ! - the YPC F1 hull has worked well as an inboard - I sell the inboard hull with the extended transom which is better for the prop rudder setup (as you have it) - slightly different mount set up .....

Keep us posted on your results - I am working on an Electric F1 Inboard set up - just not finding the time to do éverything'

Hooraay for the Inboard F1 Tunnel. I am onto the solution for OB tunnel to run just as good as the IB tunnel with a single servo for the high speed turn.
Here's a vid of the my IB tunnel taken by someone at our race lake.

Howzit Body Guard ! ......good to hear from you - how is your F1 hull production going.

I dont think the cost with the Outboards revolves around the servo's - one extra 1/4 scale servo is hardly an expense by comparison - its certainly the issue with the cost of the outboard leg and specialised pipe.......as well as sourcing reliable flex shaft materials.

When the OB scale legs are used ( as beautiful as they are) to achieve any reasonable performance a tuned pipe needs to be added - which simply kills the Scale look - so that is a contradiction.

As for myself - I am now seriously into the rc Surfing - get to enjoy it at least 3 times a week - build a few boards a month - which keeps me very busy.

Body Guard 02-03-2014 10:29 PM

Well ,well, one of the convert haha. Sorry Dom just couldn't help teasing you.

All is well here mate. Production is on hold as I am involved with racing , and in between that delving back into scale heli. Still driving my two youngest to local colleges as well till they get their drivers licence which will be soon I hope.

The very reason I went in board with a tunnel is the scale look I can get from some distance lol. Even with the right can exhaust I have for my outboard, I'll still not be able to get the engine cowl on. My next best choice is going with my Inboard/Outboard with my stern drive.

My next serious project is going into Auto gyro. Starting with scale to full scale. Hopefully I can sell this concept and bring in some big fund as my scale F1 tunnel design did.

Glad to see u together with the family enjoying the surfer and what's more, making money out of your own creation. Very satisfying you must admit.

YPC 02-04-2014 05:33 AM

Howzit Body Guard - sounds like you are just as busy .....:p - the auto giro project sounds very interesting

Having fun with the family - doing what you enjoy - whilst - making a few bucks out of it - goes a long way !

I grew up with a family motto: - " if it don't make money - it don't make sense" ....

I still need to finish my Inboard F1 Electric project - when the timing is right - it will be a winner ! affordable and fast !.....

Keep us posted !

crazybobIII 03-22-2014 05:40 PM

Nothing wrong with inboard F1's wet a wild, build them, have a ball and enjoy, they are great fun to drive and perform very well when the correct setup has been achieved. Great pictures of yours too. ;-)
