Gene, Nice Clegg modded sleeve you got there.  The ole hole in the exhaust side of the sleeve, to cool the exhaust side of the piston.  Keeps the charge centered better in the cylinder.  I always liked jame's theory.  I tried that on a couple of my motors after I chatted with him about it, and it helped me keep the wrist pin boss in some of the ones, that i kept breaking.  good stuff.

Hey Rodney,
Yes its James work, sleeve and crank........
Here is a better A/C button shot and another sleeve view.

Tim says it will depend on the cc's of the A/C head vs W/C if we get any gains.
Still in tha works,
Gene

Here are some pictures of the radio box that I made for my Vision Craft. The included fiberglass radio box was too narrow for my liking.

Gene, i would have to say that button will work.  Nice big flat on there, to help keep the a little torque in it.  Your running this as a "sport" engine I assume?  No pipe???  I bet that will work great man.

I like it Craig,
Gives ya a little room in there for yer fingers to get to stuff,
Nice work Man,

Rodney,
Yea that's what I am thinking, Cut the head down to four or five fins,
to look like tha stocker. He had a idea for tha spacer in tha muffler too,
Two sections rather than one for more tuning options.
That way ya just change screws for length....
Well see,
Gene

When I bought the OS from James he said it will blow a Villain off at will,
Any mods can take a Villain/VS1 to the edge of its design limits.
Finish up the build and baseline the hull,
Then I'll deceide on the A/C stuff,
Gene

The Viilain/VS-1 was originally made for stock K&B's, Mike's Nemesis was made for modded OB's.

Just the gasser so far. The plan was yesterday to get the .12 wet but woke up feeling sick along with the wife and kid plus a nasty weather front rolling over the big lake kind of put a kabosh on that. Right now we're shooting for Friday. It's all in the trailer ready to roll.

Hey Generz, been reading up on the new OS OB? Air-cooled head and a few mods done but the price tag will make you go to the ER because of sticker shock! Geez Louise, you'd think that you're buying a CMB!

Oh Yea!
I been to OS engines in Osaka, A hobby store in Singapore, And three of the larger stores here, Same price 449 usd.......
This really throws me cause I got that same amount in the WHOLE project on this post,

VS1 kit NIB
Mod OSXM used
Cowl change
Two props

Really to bad bout K&B, If they would just release the SS 3.5 and 7.5 Priced right they would have something.
The SS got a bad rap bout finiky needle, "Fat on tha Stand is Cool in tha Pool" Mike Z. slogan,
Launch it fat so the heat spike dont take it lean and stall.

I Dunno,
Gene

QC took a dump around the time that the SS came out at the original K&B. I bought one when they first came out and had nothing but trouble with it. I wasn't the only one by a long shot as shortly after I got it, my wife raced the boat at the Illini Powerboaters Club race in Joliet. All who had them were wrestling trying to get them to run right. I found part of my problem when I tore it down, the con-rod bushing on the crank end was MIA from the factory! Many of the parts for the SS must have came out of NOS as the muffler and exhaust flange were taken from the antique .21 inboard, the one with the funky venturi that laid on its side and the flange was just the exhaust throttle flange with only one of the two butterfly arm holes filled with a plug.
We were all hoping that when MECOA took over K&B that we'd see an improvement in QC but not much luck on that one. Now it looks like the K&B line may be going belly-up.

Now comes a funny part. According to IMPBA rules for the stock .21 OB class, OS has to prove that they've made 500 of those new mills to be allowed to run in the stock class! If not, they will have to race against mod motors! [sm=lol.gif]
I should be able to see those new OB's running in September at the Hobart Masters race as Grimmie and JD will both be there.

MIne was a parts motor, I collected enough stuff and built one, Seems like I got tha SS head from Mikie,
Cant remember if mine had tha plug in tha muffler or not. Yea a report from Hobart will be interesting,
The only feedback that I know of so far is JD.

I said it on page two, One more time......
Anyone running the OSXM Ver. II chime in here and let us know what ya think......

Yeah, that was one odd thing, they plugged only one hole, not both of them. I thought that maybe I had one that slipped through like that then looked at the feature article in RCBM and that one also had it missing. I roughed up the inside and plugged the hole with JB Weld then turned it around so it wouldn't show.

Will old ones do?
The DPI .21 was my wife's race boat while the 7.5 DPI was mine. That one was a prototype, one of the first 6 "good" ones from the mold. I should have kept the Aero-Tech as although it was really heavy it was a great boat.

I'm hoping the Ver. II goes on sale this winter at Tower Hobbies. If it does, I will pick one up for sure. A few months ago, the Ver. I was on sale for $324.99 ($50.00 off).

I'll start a thread on here about my timing system as it comes together. If it works out, it will be a cheaper option than the IMPBA equipement, but still just as accurate. I have a pair of laser sensors ordered and will be testing them shortly. I found them for $117 a pair online. They are new surplus stock, so about half what they would be if bought direct from the manufacture.
