Default NEED ADVICES!! => Time for boating at Hobbyland, Dominican Republic

Guys,
Locally we want to start racing boats. We don't have previous experience....so any sugestions are more than welcome.
We are considering tunnel hulls with .21 engines, like the TS-3 with OS .21 XM VII
...Or any other hulls to begin with?
So...we have too many rookie questions to ask...
Does the TS-3 needs any modification?
Any particular accesories to order?
Also... where can we get the rules for racing?
Any particular layout to set the buoys??
Is the fuel special for boats?
Thanks in advance for yours imputs.
We have a nice lake downhere...and a air field and off road race track
Regards,
MS

Hello if you wish this is the IMPBA racing rules
that should help you out as for racing wise with your club.

http://67.225.217.176/images/stories/Rulebook/sec-g.pdf

and for the course this is they way we set it up with IMPBA

http://67.225.217.176/images/stories/Rulebook/sec-k.pdf

as for the boats that would be your choice just to let you know
that T-S 3 are good boats if you know alot about Nirto engines.
there is an other choice from proboat there fast electric tunnel
alot easyer to start up with for rookies.
just my 2 cent's good luck and have fun guys.

No not yet. A heat is usually 6 laps. 5 heats make a race. Depending on how many members and boats .The racers pit man is responsible for lap count. I finger=1 lap Your pond looks like a nice one. Some guys down state ran a Informational fun run looking for members. I heard it went over very well.

What do you do to avoid or reduce possibility of pollution in the water due the fuel?
I guess there's not much to do...

If anything the opposite applies- water inside your fuel tank. It's good for weed killer, then. A hull can flip over very easy and water gets inside your fuel tank I'm talking nitro not gas as the fuel bag on gas isn't affective.

Fuel pollution is not an issue for water quality. The little that spills will disipate naturally. The real concerns with water quality in lakes and ponds is too many nutrients from run off. This produces too much weeds and allergy.

Not sure what other info you want? It's just what I have learned over the years. In the Finger Lakes, NY, there is a big movement to reduce phosphorus in the fertilizers that are being used by landscapers and home owners. We have some lakes that are being over run by weeds. Yet, we have had no problems at all with our 2-stroke full size boats and jet skis running on the lakes.

My backyard pond has fish and I have no concerns about running nitro boats on it.

Blackout, any ideas where can I get some "official" or formal information about this issue?
This topic might become a problem locally if is not cleared. Basicly I would to prove there is no pollution issues with the nitro boats.

Vision Craft makes a good .21 and .45 tunnel.

Boat stores, do a search on Intlwaters. Allot of guys are selling stuff out of their homes. (No store front.) For example, Dan Hutchinson makes and sells Cobra tunnels.

www.rocketcityracing.com is a good online source for some boat stuff.

You can't go wrong with Grimracer 30% or 50% boat fuel. I have been using Omega airplane fuel in my boats with good results, both 25% and 40%.

What we have in NY is a bad vegetative shoreline. First it was Zebra mussels ,now it's water chestnuts. they grow on the shoreline out to 6' Neither is native to North America. The mussels have a sharp edge to the shell and they grow in bunches. The water chestnut ,seeds are very sharp and have multi needles points. My one buddy had his outboard engine's water intake covered over with mussels ,keep your engine trim above the water. His engines lower-end was below the water all summer. Took it for a spin, overheating the engine. Craig I thought your pond WAS going to be overtaken ,but it's in very good shape. Good job on that. I've seen weed's take over a small pond quick.

Yup, the grass carp and the algaecide seem to have done the trick so far. The only negative now is that the level is down about 6 or 8 inches, but not much you can do about that.

The geese have come back and crapped all over, but I have some ideas for that.....

The zebra mussels make the water nice and clear. Which is great until the sun gets to the bottom and the weeds start growing to the top. It's amazing how tall an aquatic weed will grow if it can get sun.

I been reading the rule book of IMPBA...Where can we order the digital clock for the race.
I also wonder what you do with the engine after a diving under the water in a race day? WD-40 and back to the pond?
What are you using for buoys? regular marine buoys are too heavy and will brake boat if crash
