Haven't had the chance to work on the engine mounts, that being the major hold up. I'll be able to get back to them most likely on Monday as I want the boat on the water in 10 days. Got word today that some props I've been waiting on will be at my door prior to then as well

One visitor come and gone, one more to go. I figured it's time for an update. With a wife freaking out over the house, I've had a very limited time to work on the boats. I finally managed to dig the mill back out and work on the engine mounts for the Pak and figured a picture might be a nice addition. That being said, here's a picture showing the basically finished left mount and the partially finished right with the plate mounts they are replacing in front. I included the NR 21 that will be mounted to them for orientation as the mounts are shown on the side of the engine they will be bolted to in the boat. I may have to take more material off the left side mount as I'm using the mounts to offset the engine to the boat's left side to squeeze in more space for the tuned pipe. Hopefully I'll have it ready to go on Friday

Time for another update
Now that I've got an empty house again, I've been able to go back to work on the boat's hardware. I've finally got the engine mounts basically done except for some fine tuning. I found, by placing the mounts in the boat and locating the engine on them, that I need to remove some material out of the left mount and some clean up on the right and they well be ready for installation. Here's a picture of where I'm at, including the old plate mounts. I know the left mount is hard to see any detail with fresh layout dye on it, it's untouched since the last update so you can refer back to the previous picture.

Cool looking mount HJ I picked up a new NR 35+.21 with a nice Frank O carb. Have you seen any of his work. One of my race buddies had the engine, with no hull. As you know my old NR lost the side of the case .the JB weld one. There was more internal damage that I first seen. Bottom line it's a parts engine now. With all my nitro engines I get a award in gas

No I haven't seen his work, heard it's really good stuff. Glad you like my work on the mounts. I'm doing some final fitting today so I can get the mounts drilled and tapped for the engine bolts, though it seems to take forever to get everything lined up correctly. If it all works when I get it all back in, so much the better

FINALLY, I got the left mount finished and the right mount trimmed so the engine dropped in. I still have some final trimming to do on the right mount as well as drilling and tapping for the mounting screws but otherwise I'm pleased. Here's a picture showing how far the engine location changed relative to the flex cable and stuffing tube. The added room has solved the clearance problem I had between the tuned pipe, carb and sidewall so now it's just a matter of the final finishing of the right mount and tap them so I can realign and install the stuffing tube, sounds like a good project for later today

I'd say get your own. And find out. Yes, the same engine you got 35 +.21 NR Notice the large gas sponson, built- 1/2 sanded tub is next.

The tub goes down today. My .45 short kit is a little behind the build. I sand one then move on to the next. And I got my glasses on. And more light. I 'll set out on the deck sandpaper in hand. I use a small hand rasp for quick removal. Ive added that to my hand tools.

Okay guys, I've got the mounts done except for drilling and tapping. I have decided to thin down the mounting lugs a bit as I want to get the nuts lower so I can grind the top off the rubber mount threads. I'm thinking I could have a clearance problem between the tuned pipe and the end of the "bolt" on the right rear rubber mount. Anyway, here are the pictures.

The problem with the pictures was I had to use a different webcam so I could post them. The one I have been using normally has a light directly above the subject while this one has the light behind the subject. Let me get them shaved down and tapped and I'll try to get a better set for you all to look at

Shall we try this again? This time, I even used a flashlight to get the area lit up enough to see. Here are new pictures with the engine mounted. Now comes the fun part, realigning the stuffing tube.

Those last few pictures were really bad, weren't they? I have realigned the stuffing tube so here are some pictures of that, including a better look at the engine mounts
Also visible is how I openned up the radio box a bit so I can epoxy in higher sidewalls and a top to protect the radio gear since the cowl alone, as expected, didn't do the job

The .45 short kit needs a mount ,3 1/2 inside the tub. The one you made looks like it will work, OK start up a production line. Ya right. not in this economy.

For me to do that, I would have to have the boat and engine sitting here so I could make them to fit both. When I do the next boat, I'll have to make the mounts different due to a different engine/exhaust/drive set up. My biggest problem now is to find more of those rubber isolators[X(]
