Default which engine?

I'm probably getting a dumas hot shot soon and I don't know which engine to get, could you tell me which one and why? Well actually it's the same engine just different gear ratios. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXE319&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAHSV&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAHSU&P=7

1-4-1 is the one and put a sharpened and balanced 637 prop on it a hot plug and the highest nitro you want to run while making sure its getting to temp.  You can pull the head shim and cut the water down to make sure its getting hot enough and make it run better...

On the hull...  I would just spend the extra and get the TS3 although the Hot Shot is tougher the ts3 will hands down be easier to run and handle better.

Thanks but why that one? In towers "combo" it comes with the other one. I wanted the hotshot so I could build it and I dont like the ts3 cowl.

The Dumas Hot Shot tunnel designs are 30+ years old, that may be why he's recommending getting something a lot newer. These boats have come a long way since then. If you're looking at the original Hot Shot, it's an ill-handling boat and the wood quality is junk.

Yes what Ron says.  The old design will not be nearly as much fun as a new design and harder to get desireable running results.  If you want to build,,, get on the list for a ML boat works hull http://www.ml-boatworks.com/ it is the hull in the first picture.  I think they are around 170 or so...

The 1-4-1 Thunder Tiger is what we that run them run...
