Dumas Miss Circus Circus
I like the Miss Circus Circus on Tower Hobbies, and saw the hardware kit on Dumas site,is this kit not hard to do?..how long does it take?...I can frame a house in one month,so it couldn't take that long hopefully...Lol...and are the plans easy to follow that come with it.

1/4" ply: right sponson and rear transoms
1/8" ply: all lengthwise frames, left sponson transom, sponson sheers and chines
1/16" ply: all remaining cross frames
I would also gusset all butt joints with 1/8" to 1/4" square stick stock. These will make a much stronger boat as well as seam cracking less likely.
Since a light boat will be easier to get to run, plan on cutting lightening holes in the frames to make the boat lighter. These holes will also aid in removing water that does get inside the hull.
As far as how long it takes to build, plan on at least 24 hours between steps to allow the epoxy to cure so framing could take at least a month, if you replace the parts as I recommend.
I would recommend you not use the Dumas hardware kit. You can buy much better hardware from other places, such as Speedmaster, Virginia Craftsman and Accutech, to name a couple.
The plans are generally easy to follow but, like any kit, there are things missing that I would have liked to see if I was building my first boat.
If you would like to see how I did the very things I'm recommending, I did a build using the 30" Dumas Pay'N Pak kit. The thread is at

Thanks alot Hydro Junkie, thats very good info and tips,I will definitely use your recommendations....going over to check and bookmark your Pay'N Pak build: )...looks like it would take some time and patience, but fun and well worth the final product: )))

Just remember, the Pak was a sport 20 and heavily modified. You will need to make sure the OUTSIDE of the engine bay walls has the same width as they would be if built using the kit framing. If they don't, the vacuformed cockpit won't fit the hull properly

Hi Hydro Junkie,I'm paying my last easy payment at Tower hobbies for a revolt 30,then planning to get the Miss Circus Circus kit,I just saw scrolling through Facebook,Novarossi Marine USA showing their .67 Nitro engine,I really liked seeing that because it was hard to search for the .67 engine earlier,..also they have a .91 only $20 more than the .67..would the .91 be too big?......https://www.novarossi.us/

Probably. You have to remember, the Circus kit was designed back in the days when a .67 was about half as powerful as it is now. It's also framed out of mahogany doorskin so it's not exactly the strongest wood around

Ok,that's good to know that these new .67's are more powerful, and I will use the mahogany doorskin: ) as templates for the aircraft grade birch, what kind of epoxy should I use putting it together?...also,so far I like the Circus paint scheme, but not sure how hard that would be...?

going to do abit of glow power boating Kennith ? are you wanting this particular hull design for speed or just the scale look run around ? i find z-epoxy 30 minute cure is the best for building gives you plenty of working time and it does set off within the 30 minute period. there are plenty of fuel tank sizes available so its just a matter of taking a measurement of the tank area then match a fuel tank size up. Sullivan Brand is good. and i must say CMB 67 is great.

Just beware that a .67 LOVES fuel.... My .67 tunnel has a 20oz fuel tank just to make sure it finishes a race. There's plenty left over when completed. I run the boat to get it dialed in and a few practice laps. Otherwise, I'll run the smaller boats to play with. 65% fuel is not cheap!

a tuned 67 with a 12 oz tank should easily last for a 6 lap plus race. i used to race 67 and 90 class 25% maximum nitro and all was good [ mpg ] using 12 oz tanks, if your not racing you don,t need any nitro in the fuel mix but if you want you can pop in 10% for better starts etc. keep the 65% for the 21,s and lower.

Darn, I was hoping you were closer. Won't be getting down to your area for at least a couple of years. Wife and I are planning(with fingers crossed) to be in the Marietta area in late June, 2019. Does this mean I need to bring a boat, if we make it?

Was looking at googlemaps yesterday. IF the thing is correct, it's about an hour to Lake Lanier's Vann's Tavern Park from Cobb Galleria Convention Centre and the adjoining Renaissance Waverly Hotel, the location we will be spending four or five days. Don't know how close you are to there, was just a good point to guestimate time and distance to, reference wise anyway.

Is it just me or is that lake way down, depth wise, in the picture? Unless I'm wrong, looks to me like the water level should be higher, so much so that the surface should be past the left picture edge

Hi Hydro Junkie!!...good to hear y’all are making your trip soon!..how long are y’all visiting for?..I’m on Lake Lanier, but it is about an hour and 15 minutes from Marietta...don’t know if that’s too far that you’d want to drive,if not too far you could bring a boat and are welcome to come by here and we could run our boats,it’s my Mom,brother and me here, just in a trailer that’s on the lake with a small dock, like in earlier picture,I have a jet ski if we need to retrieve a boat real quickly!..me and my twin brother each have an electric and a Nitro Aquacraft,..a Revolt 30,and a Miss Vegas Deuce..and I got the fire rescue 17. Have a fun trip, look forward to talking to you,I’m looking forward to warmer weather!!!
