Hello guys I want to put a Macs tuned pipe on my hammer, would this one be the right one[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZ557&P=0[/link]. Also do I need a tune pipe adapter as well or will the stock one from the hammer be fine?

nitro kid, plastic prop doesn't require sharpening or balancing and as far as the most recommnded prop is octura x427-i'm also looking for this mod...

maybe u can sharpen the stock rudder to make lesser drag but the problem is that the hammer rudder is not stiff enough and it bent very easy which is not good.. what i did mine i raised the rudder bracket by 3/4" and it takes less drag....

I use these pipes a lot on my little boats, I have 3 of them. Where the problem lies with installing them in the NH's is that you have to get the pipe length right otherwise it's pretty much only a muffler. Unfortunately the nature of the beast is that the radio box is in the way so that is why the header is too long in the first place. An ideal length for the pipe is around 8-1/2 inches from the glow plug folowing the path of the exhaust to the widest part of the pipe, really hard to get with the long header pipe. An "up and over" the radio box is a possibility but then you'd have to run it without the hatch or really cut up.

Thank you Ron for the info. I already have removed the radio box so I guess it wont be that hard. Again Thank you so much. Also if I do get the tuned pipe adapter from Macs do I need to get the marine one or would the standard tune pipe adaptor will do?

What I've been using is a tuned cpipe from Traxxas. It's tight to the engine and has a slight upturn that really helps to get it to clear radio boxes.
Here is the one that I use: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJM08&P=RF
If you look at the shot, you can see that the header does need some port matching work done to it.

A glass like lake will only make the boat slower.

Having a slight chop on a lake will help create air under the hull of the boat. The less boat you have in the water the faster it will be. The slight chop on the lake also works along the same principles as a step hulled boat. The air under the hull will create lift, breaking the hull free from the water and causing less friction with the water. One of the problems with the Nitro hammer is that the boat is to bow heavy. The boat tends to plow in the water rather than run on plane on the last 4 to 5 inches of the stern of the hull. I want to figure out how to shift the motor to the rear of the boat, and make it less bow heavy.

OK, I figured it out!!! I was flipping because my tabs were to low making my boat "dive" into the water. So much water would come over the deck that it would just capsize. So I bent the tabs up and it runs like a beast!!!! No stopping it. it is surprising how much better it is with just a little fix!!! I was in Canada in LK St. Claire when I figured this out! It started to get windy and 8-12!QUOT! wave were coming in, My NH handled it very well. But unfortunately My air scoop was smashed on the way home!!! Oh well, just fix it!!!
