A Fail safe is a good idea i got them in all my boats. Simply plug your fail safe inline between your receiver and your servo and when the batt power or radio single drops this littel baby will automatically push your servo to were u have your fail safe adjusted to ..

Just a quick question i was at my LHS today to buy some more props they suggested the octura x427 as an upgrade ive read this elsewhere in this thread as well. i took a closer look and tried it on a demo nitro hammer for fit. I noticed it had a small amount of slop around the shaft either the prop or the shaft is a metric size i didnt want to risk buying it because of the vibration the offset prop could cause Am i right to be concerned or should i buy it and never have to suffer a pesky broken prop again??????

i believe the stock shaft is 3mm and that prop is probobly 3/16" you could probobly get some tubingfor a sleeve to put around the stock shaft, that might do the trick.

Hello all,

Okay so I finally received my Glow Ignitor...Hopefully this Saturday I will finally get to run the Hammer and see what its
got. I got it off ebay for only ....$96...Run only once for break in. The boat is immaculate except for the small crack on the prop.
So I will hopefully report ...anyway lets keep this Thread going!!!

Regards,

well the sites are www.finedesignrc.com and www.offshoreelectrics.com .the prop shaft should come right off if you got the uni joint off(the round headed black thing the engine connects to)

hope this help

yes it does. and i remember that kit that people said to get for teh surface drive setup for the NH, but they are all sold out..idk what they cost although...does anyone else have something like that for sale? something relatively cheap like 50 bucks and below, well any kind of surface drive setup for a nitro hammer and a prop for it...it would be cool to have a 3 bladed one...

I AM NEW TO THIS THREAD BUT I HAVE BEEN READING A LOT ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH HEADER GASKETS... THIS IS HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMO ELIMINATE THE GASKET ALL TOGETHER IT IS THE WEAK LINK. IT IS MADE OF SOFT MATERIAL AND WILL NEVER HOLD UP. YOU COULD MAKE YOUR OWN OUT OF COPPER SHEET STOCK IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO HAVE A GASKET BUT IF YOU FLAT PLATE SAND THE HEADER GASKET SURFACE AND MAKE SURE THE CYLINDER GASKET FACE IS SMOOTH AND FLAT THE 2 WILL SEAL PERFECTLY AND THE BOLTS WILL HAVE LESS TENDENCY TO LOOSEN. TRY IT AND LET ME KNOW.

I run 50% nitro through my O.S. .12! It's higher than recommended but they can take 40% with no problem.

that your nitro vee? if so how do you like it, I just purchased one and had also been looking into the nitro hammer, it should get here by friday, gonna add a macs pipe, octura shaft with a 40mm CF prop, maybe do some tweaking on the engine(port&polish, jack up the compression, match port the header, maybe an OS .25 carb...I'll decide then, just thought id see how you like how it runs/handles....

Well, heres the scoop on that! Yes you can sand them down together and eliminate the gasket all together. But, it must be perfect or you will loose power & performance, not to mention a mess of oil that will come through even the smallest opening.
The stock gasket that comes with the Hammer is garbage and won't last even a few runs. The good news is HPI makes the replacement gaskets that are 100% better and fit like a glove for only a few dollars for a pack. I have had the same gasket on for about a gallon burned and no leaks or damage as of yet. The pack has 4 or 5 gaskets and should last a long-long time.

As for the header screws, EASY, a 50 cent pack of 2.5mm hex nuts will do the trick. Just tighten on the backside and no more worries. All this can be done for just a few dollars and take a max of 5min to do.

I am using a macs 2.5 pipe on my nitro vee(but i like these hammers too so ill help otu when i can, i have a hammer ep) 28 bucks at tower, seems to run nicely, and would probably fit nicely, its 9.75 inches from end to end, sounds sweet when the things really running out to its peak, also a magnum .25 airplane carb fit right on a gave a worthwhile boost to the speed/reliability of it(dunno how the hammer is reliable wise)also easy to tune.

Hi all,

I'm a soon to be Nitro Hammer owner and would like to ask you guys a few questions.

Can I just cut 1/4" off the bottom of the rudder our do I need to raise it 1/4"?

Will the Energizer rechargeable NiMH 2300's work for the boat and radio?

Thanks for your time and the great information on this board.

WW, I use Aeroplate made by Aerotrend Products to waterproof my servos. I've had my radio box full of water, poured it out and kept running! It's even brought a reciever back from the dead. You can usually order from your LHS although they may not have a clue as to what it is, mine didn't. Aerotrend is better known for their tuned pipe couplers.
