I've been all over Perth Hobby Stores today to find this new header.
I have to do some dremel work on it to get it to match my engines exhaust profile and cut the top to match the water cooling head.

Is it any better ???[&:] Not as low as the last one......

Will take the exhaust straight from the new header to the transom...... Not dog legging it to the centre.....[8D]

Also got the collet for the flexi drive . 3/16 flexi to 3/16 shaft, running x440/3 prop.

John, did you make your skid fins the same length as the plans??? Did you sharpen one side or both ?? (if one, which side(for anti prop walk))....[sm=confused.gif]

That should work much better. You might use the silicone coupler to get yourself a little more angle if needed.
I hope that you meant X440/3!

I first made my skid fins and trim tabs from some soft aluminum I had laying around my shop. They worked fine until I got the boat airborne during a timing run. The fins bent very easily. Now I have a sheet of 6061 T6 aluminum to make new fins from. Yes, the fins and tabs are the same as what's on the plans. Tabs are sharpened to a knife leading edge, square trailing edge. The leading edge taper is equal on both sides. I'm not one to re-invent the wheel if it doesn't need it. I figured that John Finch did his homework on the fins so I stuck with his design. They work just fine.

Didn't get much of a chance to do anything on the hull ( busy doing the christmas work functions).
At this point, I have the hull together and the transom glued in place, will try to do some tonight and during the week...

Got just about everything for it, engine, tuned pipe, flexi drive, rudder, engine mounts, transmitter, servos, reciever, fuel tanks, fail safe and all the wood. Will send photos of some of the gear I will be using.

Some day I'll tell you how to make radio box exit seals that don't turn into a black gummy mess in the presence of fuel. If you look closely at my boat pictures you may be able to figure out what I do.

John, Hmmm let me guess [:-] Brass tube with fuel tube then another layer over first tubing, forming a tight seal over steel rod.....maybe if you are a little kinky, some vaseline(petrolium jelly) to lube the rod and seall out water.

What do you seal the lid with, 3M seal tape ??????

Don't need honeymoon grease. The fuel residue does a good job and the pinch of the silicone on silcone does a good job of pinching down to the pushrod diameter. The radio box cover is held down with hockey stick tape. Do you know what Hockey is?

The radio box cover can also be held down with weather sealing tape also. I doubt that you can find any down there since the temp is 38C. Still to hot for me! Our friendly boating suppliers rape you over the cost of "Radio Box Tape". There is a better way.

You have one of the most common questions asked about building this boat, probably because it is the grayest area in the instructions. You need some hanging down (up when you're building it), then that area is filled with the clear silicone using your finger to curve it.

Take a look at the pictures of my boat and you'll see how the side extends below the bottom line and was filleted to form a smooth contour between the side and bottom line. That over hung area is filled to form a lifting surface. I find it best to fill with a mixture of micro balloons and epoxy. Make the mixture about the consistancy of toothpaste, lay it into the area and form it to a near final shape with a wet finger. Once it cures it can be sanded to a smooth contour. Don't mix it so it flows because when it cures you'll have a bear of a time sanding it (to much epoxy resin). The stiffer the mix the better but not so stiff (dry) that it's crumbly. Like I said - toothpaste!

So where do we lay the spruce strips in the radio box. Do you line the whole bottom with it?

Micro-balloons are actually microscopic glass beads. It looks like a white powder.
I would guess but not sure, that they would go around under the radio box opening to hold the lid from falling in.

They say strips of spruce strips? It says glue strips of spruce to the hull. This is best done one side at a time so the bottom stays true.
