Did you move the engine forward any for the .32?
I moved mine as far forward as I could, but still have room for a larger (8 oz Sullivan) fuel tank. I basically installed the tank first, then went from there. My .32 has a pull start, so the ones with the T-drive will not be able to move it as far forward.

Looks like you made some nice brackets for the mounts. I just aquired a .32 for my Duece hop to be installing soon, I will be running the stock setup at this months race with the .20 hydro class from what I have read It should do well..

The brackets are just 1" wide strip alum from Home Depot. A dremel and some small files was all it took - my very first metalworking project. Had to polish them up though...need to have some Bling!

Great Shots! That boat is definitely flying!

What fuel are you running with? Glow plug?

How deep is your strut set with that M445?

What prop are you running, looks to be doing real well as smooth as that water is.

Hello,
I'm going to buy a Vegas today, but should I go for the Duce (Tower Hobbies) or a V1 fron my LHS? The plan is to put in a bigger engine STS .28, STS .30, O.S .46 or similar. I want pure speed.

Suggestions?

Definitely the Deuce. Sponson mod is already built in now. The stock boat will do 40 with Y535, 30% nitro, once broken in. This thing really airs out - just look at the previous pics posted by TreEsPaSS.

The Vegas that TreEsPaSS has don't look like a deuce.

It was explained one time like this...
The sponson mods were great to get more speed from a boat with less power,
they raise the front of the boat, get more air under the hull, and reduce drag.
But the original sponsons (trued up) were better for high speeds, when engine power is not a problem.

Yes this is my concern also. The "duce" can probablyget too high on the nose in speeds over above 50 mph. Then it may want to flip over. My LHS does not have a "good price" for the V1, it vill cost me the same as the Duce. It's just a matter of which will go fastest. I want to go "unlimited" when it comes to power.

It tis a Deuce.. And yes there are issues with the stability of the boat when it gets up around 45mph. I am testing out weights in the sponsons to keep her down a bit, I saved a blowover today with my neigbors GPS onboard, could have been a bad thing. Actully considering widening the hull by a inch or so, a lot of work but she has met pretty much her top potential. I am ready to go bigger (want to stay hydro), if anyone has good suggestions on hulls

I have to keep 2 strips of lead on my V2 Vegas left sponson to keep it planted...did you want to stay nitro on your next hydro...or go gas?

I don't think 45mph is tops for this hull..
I've seen 50+ in videos

That makes sense - I guess you can get to a point where it can air out too much. I did a simple sponson mod on my .32 vegas - so far haven't had any stability issues, but she is still getting broken in, and I am slowly leaning her out. I did put an Octura X645 today, which definitely woke her up some more. Need to work on the strut depth now, and continue leaning to tweak out more speed.

On another note - my 5 cell battery pack had a meltdown and caught fire during a run. Took out the batt, throttle servo, switch harness, and the plexi radio box cover. The boat had flipped when I turned too sharply too miss a boat that died in front of me. When I pulled the boat out of the water, we found the mess. Don't know if the flip caused it. There was no water in the radio box. Fortnately, easy fixes, could have been alot worse. Sorry - no pics of the burned up components.

Thank you for very good information. Based on what you say here and since I'm goining to put a bigger engine into the hull, I'll think the best choice is the Miss Vegas V1.

Jerry i have a question i have played with a few boats over the years mainly riggers but have made a sport 40 and a scale 60. i just got a mv the other day and noticed that the shaft is down quite a bit but is set 1 1/16 below the transom. I have always run straight shaft on my stuff and i have always set the prop shaft just slightly below the rear running surface. My question is if the shaft was raised up say 1/2inch could you not run a bigger prop.

Hi,
I just ordered the Miss Vegas VI. I was hoping that is was on stock in my LHS, but was sold out. Luckily, they had it in the central store and they will send her to me . I read that TwistedLiquid has managed 52,7 mph. Anybody else managed this with the .18 engine? This is pretty fast!

I will dismantle the engine, give it a flowport job, optimize compression ratio, knife the conrod and make a turbocut in the cranckshaft. Then bring her to the pond along with my speedgun and see how fast this baby is with the .18 engine. If this will not bring her above 53 mph, I put in my tuned, high-reving O.S .50 hyper

I'm not saying that you can't get it that fast, but it will be tuff! The hull will need some attention as well, like blueprinting, tuning the rudder and turn fin.
Good luck, and keep us informed!
