Hi,
I just ordered the Miss Vegas VI. I was hoping that is was on stock in my LHS, but was sold out. Luckily, they had it in the central store and they will send her to me . I read that TwistedLiquid has managed 52,7 mph. Anybody else managed this with the .18 engine? This is pretty fast!

I will dismantle the engine, give it a flowport job, optimize compression ratio, knife the conrod and make a turbocut in the cranckshaft. Then bring her to the pond along with my speedgun and see how fast this baby is with the .18 engine. If this will not bring her above 53 mph, I put in my tuned, high-reving O.S .50 hyper
Awesome, keep us up dated on your engine mods!

I'm not saying that you can't get it that fast, but it will be tuff! The hull will need some attention as well, like blueprinting, tuning the rudder and turn fin.
Good luck, and keep us informed!
I just need a little help for a good hull / rudder / fin setup. I can tune the engine, butI din't have experience with the MV.

No. 1 rule: Keep everything sharp, straight, and true.

I still run a stock rudder, pipe, and engine in one of my MV, and I have GPSed her at 43. But on the other hand, I have a MV with a OS VZM 21, Macs 3.5 pipe, thinned rudder and turn fin, and it has only GPSed at 48.9 so far. This set-up is still new and I haven't finished tweaking things yet, it only has about 6 tanks in it now. But I am hoping with the right prop and tuning the engine... she will be in the mid 50's.

Jerry i have a question i have played with a few boats over the years mainly riggers but have made a sport 40 and a scale 60. i just got a mv the other day and noticed that the shaft is down quite a bit but is set 1 1/16 below the transom. I have always run straight shaft on my stuff and i have always set the prop shaft just slightly below the rear running surface. My question is if the shaft was raised up say 1/2inch could you not run a bigger prop.

The problem sometimes encountered with raising the prop depth to 1/2" is getting the boat to stay on step. A shallow prop depth also requires a strong toss to launch.

This is an awsome engine for it's size. Great project, please infom of progress. I'll probably face the same issues as you with my projectWhat propeller are you using? the O.S .21 VZ can produce approx 61 oz-in of torque @ 22500 RPM, far more than the stock engine. To compare, the O.S .12 TZ which is also strongerthan the stock engine producec 44oz-in @21700 RPM. Hence the .21 can handle much more prop.

Hello, could somebody please recommend a flywheel that will fit the SG shaft of a 28 buggy engine?

Yep. That's my Yellow/Green one. There are pics of it a few pages back in the thread.

We didn't have a GPS with us yesterday, but hopefully at the next outing. I'm guessing mid 40's right now.

Just have to ask, is anyone racing with your boat or just going fast. How is this boat compairing to the .20s hydro class? is the Vegas running with them?

The boat is just racing in our club - for fun. We have about 4-5 modified Vegas boats that race against each other. A couple of modded ProBoats as well - all with the .32 engines.

Hasn't been in real sanctioned races. I still have alot of improvement needed in my driving skills.

Yep. Most of it is for water cooling the TZ head (blue line).

Another killer boat! I like the starting stand too, excellent job! Which is faster the TZ or the .32?

I'd like to sand the bottom of the hull but am unsure about where exactly to do it. Anyone know which areas need to be sanded?

Hey Scott,

Right now the .32 is faster, but the TZ still needs some tweaking. I'm starting to learn more about modding props and motors, so hopefully I'll really be able to get some even better performance out of both boats.

I just lightly sanded the bottom of the sponsons and the aft area of the hull with 600 grit. I know alot of people who really take the sandpaper to the hull and sponsons to get it perfectly flat, and make all the corners sharp and square. I'm talking almost down to bare fiberglass - and then repaint.

Would it be possible to run this motor in a Ver 2 Vegas?

Its a Losi .27, info on the motor can be seen [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSR1002]HERE[/link]

I was thinking I could wind a cooling coil around the head but wonder if it would be enough. What do I need to add the coupler and such?

Any thoughts?
