Only a few problems...
1 make it kinda water cooled..easy fix
2 find a rotary carb instead of slide carb...easy fix
3 put on a non-pull backplate...easy fix
making that piloted crankshaft into a threaded shaft?....let me know cause that will open up a few doors for me too because I have some buggie motors that I can mod big time if it weren't for that problem. Will that engine even fit in a Vegas with the cowl on?...might have to trim off the top fin or two....

anyone looking for a miss vegas boat??? i have one that just needs a piston/sleeve.. it is all complete.. only reason it needs a piston/sleeve is because we took the piston/sleeve out and put it onto a duratrax evader motor (they are the same motor with a different head).. this thing is complete with radio and all.. all stock except a header cooler.... oh, and the block and header have been ported.. its the orange/white hull.. it has a few nicks on it.. nothing major at all.. any takers?? you would be surprised what i would take for it..

Well, I finally got some running time with my G2 vegas and OS 21vzm last weekend. I was having trouble getting it to run and transition very well. I ended up adding the extra head shim included with the motor and it made all the difference in the world. I run wildcat 30% heli fuel. We caught it on the radar at 45mph max, and 42-43mph averaging. We're going to try and get some video if we can ever get a camera at the lake. The engine is not even tuned/broken in yet and I have a feeling it will go even faster. Mac 3.5 pipe at 8.25 inches with M440 prop. Does anyone have problems with Octura prop balancing, especially the X/M 440? I could not get that sucker balanced, like the hole is not drilled correctly.

Installing a .32 in another hull I bought. Question, what length do I need to cut the header/pipe? Is there a set length? Do I drill a hole for gas tank pressure hose at the fattest point on the tune pipe? Im using the MACS header/pipe.

The header on my .32 is 3 1/2" long measured along the curve, beginning at the flat side of the header where it mates to the engine. The pipe is 10" long, trimmed down at the fattter (intake) end. Yes, the pressure fitting is installed at the fattest part of the pipe.

I use the Macs header for .21-.32 and Macs 2.5 pipe.

Where is yours hitting the cowl? What part of the engine is hitting?

I have plenty of clearance with my motor. The only thing that comes close is the cooling coil I added to the exhaust header - sometimes rubs on the cowling.

Did you measure from the inside(carb side) or the outside(front of motor)

Thanks for the help!

The kv plays a big part of getting the right prop with the right amount of lipo cells without burning things up

Here's a pic of my buddy's boat. Mine has the exact same setup/dimensions. Measure right down the center of the pipe.

You can get them, along with any parts you need (flywheel, collet, etc) from Horizon Hobby.

Hey Guys and Gals,
I just bought a new Miss Vegas Duece and took it to the lake. I am finding that the boat will run fast on the straights the will slow down while I am still on 100% throttle. ? I have looked over the boat but cannot find any issues.I have almost 3/4 gallon of 30% thru it. The boat is all stock but the grim racer turn fin and grim racer 35mm prop. Can anyone help? Thanks Jason

If you still have the stock fuel tank...I would say the problem may be that the tanks 0-ring is not holding a good seal and that will make the engine come on and off the pipe with loss of pressure....at least mine did.... Also, I would check the pressure lines from the muffler to the tank because sometimes they get a tear in them and you can loose pressure that way too...in fact, check the fuel lines from the tank to the carb for air bubbles while its running..that's a start. You may have the engine too lean also and the power will drop off after a lap or so if that is the case...

Hello there can anyone tell me what the head clearance should be i checked the it there is one head shim in there that measure .007 and the total head clearance i have is .019 of a inch. This vegas is new to me it has the original aqua craft engine in there. I had the engine all apart the other day it just seams to have low compression. Tried to push the piston out of the sleave and can not. I thought about removing the shim that is in there leaving me with .012 an i am thinking that is a little tight. I am running 40%.

Thanks

1150ap,
piston and liner being tight is normal when brand new.
when you tried taking the piston out of the liner, you were trying to get it out from the bottom and not through the top correct (just checking)?

most guys will run it with the shim for break in and will remove it after, I think they ran it as high as 40% without the shim (maybe 50%, I can't remember).

Dan.

Hey Dan i was trying to push it out the top i got the piston to stop and about 1/8 from the top of the sleave which tells me that the piston and sleave are good but i can. I ran the boat this past weekend and after the run i could easly turn the prop by hand. I was out running with my friend and his son and they booth have miss elams and their compression was a lot higher than mine and they where alot faster than me which kinda pi$$ed me off elams should not beet a vegas and they where faster thanme by atleast a good 7 mph. But thanks to you guys in this thread i learned a lot i also had a problem with the coupler melting off and after a few laps it would start to like have a bog in the straights so after reading here about the problems with the gas tanks i have changed that out to a 6oz flex tank with the pick up curved over to the bottom of the outside sponson. Thats the way we used to setup our tanks in our riggers.
