Could be tuning or cooling.....????
Try making a cooling coil out of sofened brass or copper, soldered around the header, (some JB weld helps keep it in place, the solder keeps it from uncoiling)
I had a boat that ran hot in the exhaust, and would slow down as you described....sometimes, with the exhaust unscrewing.

One of my new backup boats refused to fire up....turns out the fuel filter pickup was not drilled all the way through from the factory, making a brass plug instead of a filter........but, make sure your fuel is fresh....soured fuel is hard to tune.
Check glow plug too.

Make sure cooling water is flowing properly throughout the system as well.

I am selling my boat as is or parting it out. I hit a fish/turtle and cracked the back of the boat and I have no time to fix it. Here is what I have:

Hull needs repair.
Macs 3.5cc High nitro pipe
Header with cooler
Stock .18 engine with carb
New stock fuel tank used once
Servo box and original servos and battery pack
All running hardware (and a aftermarket rudder used once)

Pics of all available in email.

Thanks

moeron,

I noticed you never cut the pipe, I was it running?

Just letting you know before you wonder why a Moderator has removed your post, anything for sale has to be in the Buy and Sell Forum.

Good luck.

Well l popped my little motor, I have been taking care of it after run oil, head shim still in, cold plug, 30% od fuel, And I think I have been running both motors on the rich side. I took it apart and I think it was the inner bearing it apears to have skated on the crank alittle and feels bad.I dont think it would have damaged the piston and sleeve if I hadnt pulled the starter, very small amount of metal. Has any one else seen this? I sent it in I think they going to take care of it those guys are great at hobby ser.

Am I doing somthing very wrong it seems I have a problem with the other boat it is doing about the same thing as the first. It runs well about two laps then slows you can even feel it by pulling the starter it will pull free then bind then free up it feels like a bearing. Ididnt take this one apart I going to send it in. Both of these motors have never acked rite high speed has always had to be out 41/2 to 43/4 to run. I got one new motor and it adjusted great put it in the water and ran 7 tanks of fuel never stopped no problem. Im runnig od 30% with one oz castor per qt. Am I doing somthing to kill these little motors

I havent' run the math, but I wonder if 1 oz of castor is too much oil per quart of fuel?
Could your rich oil and 30% nitro be loading up your engine?

I run 20% Red Alert (unaltered fuel) and no problems.

which 30% O'Donnell fuel are you using?

30% High performance racing or the Heli fuel?

Dan.

You get an idea what going on. the motors in these boats have been abit of pain sence day one I have sent both back, they did not want to tune or stay close from time to time out I just flat out got one new one stuck it in the boat ran seven tanks of fuel and it was a joy to break in

UPS just came and brought me a new motor from hobby ser. its to late to call and see what they found a big thanks to them

has anyone used a GO engine?? or maybe a GO TECH engine.. what is the difference?? are they the same thing?? if not which is better?? is it better than the stock aqua .18? right now my aqua .18 is running fast as hell. i dod some case porting on the transfers to open them up for better flow. also did some grinding on the backplate to allow better flow to the rear transfer port.. it still has the head shim in it and i am running 30% nitro.. it really hauls.. gotta play around with the tune and then try some props. i am getting some prop load on the straights.. it can still get more rpm but its not.. mite be a little rich.. this motor is also just broken in so maybe it will run better after it gets ran some more.. i also ported the header and shortened the pipe.. it walks away from my buddys stock vegas like its nothing.. i want someones input on the GO engines though..

I have heard the Go Tech engine's rock, aint ran one though, if ya really want a scremer, get a Picco JLR .12 red dot, you will need to machine a flywheel and cut off the SG shaft, but make's BIG H.P. and 45,000+RPM

I think the HP is somewhere's around 2 or at least close to that, a lot of guy's use them in A class rigger's, spinning octura x637/3 prop's getting 55-60 mph I know a octura make's a cable collet that screw's right on the crank to a .150 cable

what about the claimed 1.8hp and 39,000 rpm that go engine advertises??? that sounds impressive and tasty for under 100 bucks.. imagine a little porting and so on with it.

Mike,

according to O'donnell, their Racing fuel contains an advanced lubricant package which
provides engine protection equivalent to that of conventional
lubricants that have an 18% lubricant content.

so if your adding 1oz of castor on top of that......... do the math lol
just remember, running lean is not a good thing and running too rich is no better.
find the right spot and go just a tad richer, no more (1/16th of a turn).

Dan.
