RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
I have read all about this taking of the lid on the boat, maybe this is true, of course!! Because whrn I take off the lid to shut of the engine the lid is like vacuumed to the hull. Maybe I should make 2 small holes where the 2 drivers are sitting, is that an good idea??
Like on the picture, I have drawn 2 dots, Is this possible??

James, see the other thread on shutting the engine down. The preferred spot for placing a hole in the hatch is over the carb as it will allow cool air to reach the carb otherwise the engine is pulling in hot air from around the engine and exhaust.
You can run it without the hatch but it will be easier for water to get in.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
thanks. Just one final question:
I have bought a spin fin, when I put it on should it go outwards or inwards on the boat?

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
so you mean straight down? Because other boats have 2 fins that go inwards!
A? B? or C? on the picture??

"B". Too many boat manufacturers do it wrong. All they have to do is to buy John Finch's books and they'd learn how to properly set up a boat.
In figure "A", you'll find that type of setup on hydroplanes as it helps to grab the water like a scoop to hold the right sponson down.
"C" or those similar are usually seen on RTR boats as they fit in the boxes better for shipping.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
Its Motocoach, as in raced motorcycles my whole life, then was a teacher for a few years, now I am a loan officer. So that explains why I like to tinker. And until I got this boat, I was not tinkering on anything and it was driving me crazy. So last night, I bored the carb barrel out 8%, and made a make shift ram air. I have to agree with Jesus on the potential disaster if the thing rolls over with the ram air, but I had to try it. I will let you know if I have messed up by boring the carb. My thinking there was since the engine responds well to airflow, and I thing they are using the same carb bore on the .16 as they are the .18, I thought I would try it. Why not, it kept me in the garage half the night!

We run into a problem as a lot of the carbs on RTR boats are from adapted car and truck engines. Their sanctioning bodies limit the size of the carb bores so it hurts the boaters. I've got a guy that cuts down the Nova Rossi .21 carbs so that they fit into my .12 engines. Boy, do those things wake up! One mono went from riding wet to being barely on the water with just that change!

Go with 2 spin fins James. I am, as I went belly up again today. I am just a motor head and am not much of a driver evidently. Or else it just doesn't bother me much to flip it. I will tell you what!! Drilling out that carb barrel from 5.4 mm to 6 mm made a big difference. Its movin'. I can't believe it. better sound and everything. Time for a pipe, I just haven't seen any thing that seems to be designed for the .18, same for the header. The ram air seemed to have a good benefit as well, but more testing is needed since my set up on that is needing more refinement. I am hooked, I can't leave these things alone. I am going motor shopping on the web. Any recomendtions on good lightweight nitro motors, that you think will really make my .18 look slow, just say the word.

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
what 18 engine do you have? I have an os 18 cv-rmx that is way faster than the cen engine. 1.3hp @ 28000rpm compared to 1.1 @ 20000rpm. Im not sure but I think that a pipe for a .21 will work

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL CEN AQUA JET THREAD
I've been using the Mac Products tuned pipe for my boats, one of the best so far out there for these sized engines. Using a .21 pipe will give you problems with the different diameters of the header and pipe. You might have to use the header from the Grey Thunder to help you get over the battery pack as it's in the way or move it.
