I haven't seen a spectrum radio used at a race, I have seen the new futaba fasst used but not very much. I have heard there are issues with the spectrum that the futaba fasst guys wont even use. I bought a fasst 3pm, I returned it because the directions said range of 80m (I have heard from reliable people that the range is much better than that). But too many people that are very knowledgeable in boats said it was a mistake to get a 2.4ghz radio said they would NOT put that radio in there boats. This is just my scenario take it or leave it.

You tell me....My original Non-pro spectrum RX, module system in a KO Helios made it to the middle of the lake, about 75' then decided to failsafe. Luckily it was a little windy and blew back towards me till the boat cought signal. Ended up buying the PRO version for my other cars and boating too, made a huge difference, it went all the way down to the other end of the lake. But in the end just put the regular 75Mhz back in since it worked without a hiccup, and I can trust it when the batts get a little low, to bring her home.
