Default What kind of mount is this????

Picked this thing up at a garage sale for a couple bucks and wondered if anyone knew what kind of motor mount this is? It is only hinged at the top. The bottom just rests. Does this work? I would think the motor would be flopping all over the place no?

Also, can anyone identify the boat? It's 35" long, made of glass, and has got wings on the front and back with an 11cc K&B as a power plant.

Thanks!

That's a Prather motor mount that someone modified. The hull may be vintage Prather also.

Will this technique work or is changing this mount a must do?

The previous owner probably did this as a kick-up in case he hit something. I'd get rid of it and put a good one on there.
I had a Prather motor mount on a 7.5 OB tunnel and hated it. The Du-Bro or Octura mounts are a lot easier to work with.

The hull looks pretty close to my old Dumas Hot Shot 45.
